Paul Lind from Idaho, is an interesting guy. His family has been heavily involved with the Western States Endurance Run since it became a foot race. His dad, Dr. Bob Lind was the medical director for many years and since 1978 started every race with a family 20 gauge shotgun until the year he passed. Paul took over those duties after that. Paul has run the race a couple times. Once at 18 years old, and then 20 years later and still earning a silver buckle. ...
I had the chance to chat with Jenny Lee Allen about 2 months ago. It was right after the Lake to Ocean 100k. She recorded another local podcast around the same time, so I sat on this one a while to let it run its course. Jenny Lee won the L2O women's race this year. If you haven't heard of this iconic Florida ultra, you ain't livin. It is a microcosm of many Florida ecosystems and wildlife. It is beautiful, remote, and scary. It starts at Lake Okechob...
I met Natalie on Statesmas Eve. She was getting her feet pre-taped by me and my buddy Gregg Lawson. She was just overflowing with excitement and enthusiasm for the sport and her opportunity to compete in a bucket list race, The Western States 100 mile Endurance Run. We saw her on the track afterwards and she crushed it. Here her story, her experience at the race, and about her huge 10 person crew. Ultra running community at it's finest! Enjoy @wser Squirrel...
Ashley Leisher from Jacksonville, Florida is fairly new to the ultra running scene, but is already making noise with big wins at Badwater Cape Fear 51 Miler and The iconic Keys 100. She has won her way into Badwater 135 for 2027 and got drawn for Cocodona, so watch out! She is an incredibly passionate and humble athlete and a fun conversation. Enjoy! @ashleyleisher Squirrel's Nut Butter: Natural Anti-Chafe & Skin Restoring Salves Mount to Coast | For runners who transcen...
Ary Rochon is a huge part of the Florida Ultrarunning Community, a FUR. He is coming off a big win at the Lake to Ocean 100K that takes place in late May from Lake Okeechobee to Hobe Sound Beach along the Lake to Ocean Trail. This is one of the most iconic races in Florida because of the variation of habitats, the challenging terrain which sometimes consists of significant amounts of water, and of course south Florida heat and humidity in early June. But it doesn't end there...
Stephanie Rosebaugh is a friend from Arizona. Her ultrarunning story takes a little different trajectory than most. Coming off her 2nd Cocodona 250 finish a few weeks ago, she joins me to help me remember that I am enough, share lots of running stories about 200's and BYU's. We also talk about her book, coming out very soon, The Power of Enough. If you can suffer through my therapy in the first 5-10 minutes, I think you'll enjoy this one. @stephsrunspiration Mou...
On this episode, I sit down with ultrarunning legend Ann Trason for a conversation spanning the roots of the sport to where it stands today. Ann shares what it was like growing up before Title IX, competing alongside the boys in school, discovering ultrarunning through her first ultra, and the resilience it took to overcome DNF's in her first two attempts at Western States before becoming one of the greatest athletes the sport has ever seen, including 14 wins at States. We also dive int...
Cody Warren is an entrepreneur and ultrarunner from Ohio. I met him in person during Keys 100 in 2023. We had met through Harvey Lewis on social media before that. He is a humble and passionate fan of the sport, a family man, and just a real treat to get to know. He's getting ready to toe the line at Cocodona 250 in just 2 days and I am confident he will do well. He has put in the work. Can't wait to follow! Enjoy this awesome conversation! @cwarrenin...
