Matthew 16.5 The Petrine Office Established

We continue exploring the exchange between Simon Bar-Jonah and Jesus. In this exchange we look back into the Old Testament and how Jesus giving Simon a new name- Petros or Peter/Rock has significance, but more importantly the office of chief Steward or vicar/prime minister/vizer, all having essentially the same meaning. That is that this one office is one that is established that has the full authority of the king. That authority is the authority to bind and loose. Now that Jesus has established the twelve officers of the New Davidic Kingship in Jesus, one has the unique authority, the one to be a rock or a "peg in a sure place."
