(己)次,契旨请详。“唯然,世尊!愿乐欲闻。”“唯”,应诺之词。声入心通,于如是住降之理,已彻底明了。如来之护念付嘱,别人未能见到,须菩提独能见到。代大众启请住降,果蒙佛赞许。结经者于“唯”下安一“然”字,写出须菩提庆快生平、自喜领会无差之情景。然为大众未能了解,故又请问。“愿”者,愿望。“乐”者,好乐。“欲”者,希求。若唯心愿而不好乐,闻或不切;又能好乐而不希求,闻或不深。此三字一层进一层,表示大众之渴仰,亦可为末法苦恼众生表示渴仰。“闻”字与经初“如是我闻”之“闻”字相应。倘无须菩提之愿乐欲闻,阿难如何得闻耶?闻有三种:一曰闻言,耳根发识,但闻于言。二曰闻义,意识于言,采取其义。三曰闻意,神凝心一,寻义取意。今闻如是住降之言,必将得意、忘义、遗言,而消归自性可知。人人本具如如不动之自性,然有无明为障,致妄心生灭不停。故学者宜在闻字上用功。返闻闻自性,时时照,时时闻,则知心佛众生,三无差别。故此闻字,若作返闻功夫,即能消归自性。
