Well, shucks if we didn't bring our gay olde show to my hometown just in time for Mid-MO Pridefest! Joining us in Columbia, MO for this edition of You Might Know Her From LIVE! is none other than lesbian theatre icon, Jillian Armenante! You Might Know Her From Girl Interrupted, The Dark Knight Rises, Bad Teacher, Vice, North Country, and Judging Amy. We dive deep on her lesbian theatrical roots in Seattle, the difficulty that nostril surgery poses when you're about to shoot with Jude Law, and just how annoying was it to shoot a 35MM film where you didn't have the script on a Christopher Nolan Batman set. Our show was a beautiful homecoming for Anne and the adopted Rodeman that is Damian Bellino, and we were properly loosey goosey, full of pride (and Jameson). All that, and a touch of SPOOKY SEASON TALK. And by that, we mean Kevin Sorbo! We hope you enjoy it and will come see us at our next live show in New York City on November 14 @ the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Get your tickets (for in-person or livestream) HERE! Folks, before you listen just know this review is FULL OF SPOILERS so you've been forewarned! If you've yet to see Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's You Can See Everything, please go see it in the theatres and come back and talk to us about this genre-bending documentary about Elizabeth Holmes! What a wild ride it is. We would love to plan a little Patreon meet-up to encore this absolutely batshet film together! Are you down?! Show notes hidden far below this line :) ========================= A&D have seen The Rehearsal Season 1, The Curse and certain episodes of Nathan for You, but are not diehard Fielderheads. Anne saw The Dropout. Damian is currently watching The Rehearsal Season 2. Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans are delivering something we have never seen before. Will the film sweep the awards next year? Amanda Seyfried singing with Kelly Clarkson Last year, Amanda was in both an arthouse classic, The Testament of Ann Lee and a dumb popcorn movie, The Housemaid. Anne thinks she is one of our very best working actors. Who's on First? bit was outrageous "This is the heartbeat" Chevrolet commercial Are documentaries like Grey Gardens and Chimp Crazy exploitative of their subjects? Let's get into it.
Folks, Practical Magic 2 came out. Did you know? Did you care? Did you see it? We did. Anne and Damian meet up to review, recap, roast, rave (?), and ratiocinate on the sequel to 1998's OG Practical Magic starring some of the LAST MOVIE STARS we have. I Our rehashing and the film are wild rides that includes spoilers, but, both Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing dying (sacrificing themselves?) for the continuation on the secret witch-y bloodline. What the hell? We showed up for these theatrical and cinematic stalwarts! If you want to listen to the whole thing, head on over to patreon.com/youmightknowherfrom where you can subscribe and find out all the inner corners of our brains.
Folks, we're breaking down the Emmys 2026: the good, the bad, the reaction shots. We're going for it all. This year's show was hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay who brought out the ol' vaudeville complete with MULTIPLE musical numbers and sketch comedy with her pal Taylor Swift. It was a ride. It's a thankless gig so we appreciate Mariska being game for it and bringing the energy and vocals. If you want to hear her belting during "Brotherhood of Man" opposite a CGI'd Kathy Bates you can watch it HERE. Other highlights included: Nicole Kidman bringing real moviestar gravitas, the wild reaction shots and god bless Michelle Pfeiffer, and Nick Offerman knowing how to land a bit. We were particularly touched to see former guests of this show: Dale Dickey and Sepideh Moafi in the room. Dale just seems SO HAPPY to be there and it's so moving to see her (and Jeff Hiller) working the room and gettin the nominations and the love. Sepideh is killing it on The Pitt and she looked absolutely STUNNING at the show. Did you watch? What were the hits? What were the misses?
We are with our pal Alison Leiby whose new memoir of essays I'm A Lot: Surviving Myself and All the People I've Been just came out this summer. Buy it here! Alison is our old pal from our comedy days, and we were so excited to catch up with Alison to talk about ALL the things she covers in her book: her days as an aquatic jock, her near-death surgery, her abortion, and her critically acclaimed solo show about her abortion. But because it's us, we also had to talk about the Real Housewives, American Girl dolls, chiropractors, birth order, and so much more. Get into it and read or listen to Alison's book now so we can unpack it!
Babes, it's here! Our live recording with Emmy-winner Ann Dowd! You Might Know Her From The Handmaid's Tale, The Testaments, Hereditary, Compliance, Philadelphia, Lorenzo's Oil, Masters of Sex, Marley & Me, Garden State, Freaks & Geeks, Mass, Olive Kitteridge, and The Leftovers. We talk about Ann's incredible take on Mrs. Garrett/Charlotte Rae in the Live in Front of a Studio Audience stagings of The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes, her own FYC campaign for Compliance (and whether she was inspired by Melissa Leo or nah), and the constant comparisons with Margo Martindale. All that plus, whether Aunt Lydia could be gay, the ever-changing rules in The Testaments universe, the legacy of The Leftovers, and Ann's own status as a gay icon ("MOTHER" if you will) after her performances in Philadelphia and lesbian indie All Over Me (co-starring Leisha Hailey, hello!). Darling, we were just over the moon getting to do this with Ann Dowd. And on stage in front of queers in our favorite little gay town? Heaven, honey. Folks, it's here! Our live recording from this past winter at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in New York City. This recording is Anne and Damian shot straight out of a rocket ship with a lot of IN PERSON energy. We were so fortunate to be joined by THREE former guests of the show: Ann Harada, Annaleigh Ashford, and Sandra Caldwell--not to mention a cavalcade of cameos from past guests. This recording was so special and we're so grateful for everyone who made it possible including those of you that joined in person, via the livestream, or are listening right now. Your support means the world to us. And, of course, thank you to Marsha Mason!
