Noble Helium COO Dermot O’Keeffe talked with Proactive about the operational preparations for drilling the Kinambo wells at the North Rukwa Project in Tanzania. O’Keeffe said the company had completed nearly all the work planned ahead of drilling. The contracted truck-mounted rig is expected to begin mobilisation shortly before moving to the first well location around the middle of August. Once on site, it will be rigged up and undergo final inspections before drilling begins. Road construction, camp development and equipment preparation are also nearing completion. Noble Helium has built accommodation, catering, power, water and communications infrastructure to support up to 56 people during the campaign. The workforce will include the rig crew, Noble Helium personnel, medical and catering staff, equipment operators, drivers and specialists involved in well logging and sampling. O’Keeffe explained that the remote location made reliable road access and careful logistics particularly important. Long-lead items, including casing, wellhead equipment, drilling fluids, cementing products, spare parts and specialised testing equipment, are now in Tanzania and ready to be mobilised. The wells are designed to test shallow and deep helium-bearing structures identified through 3D seismic reprocessing and gravity work. Noble Helium is currently targeting a late-August spud, subject to final commissioning and normal operational contingencies. Visit Proactive’s YouTube channel for more videos.
