Welcome back, Lily, as an interviewer. Our guest this week had a previous addiction to alcohol and started taking kratom powder capsules about 5 years ago. Eventually, he switched over to kava-kratom tonics and began abusing prescription ADHD medications alongside kratom. Quitting with the help of an intensive outpatient treatment program and twelve-step meetings, he was also aided by suboxone, which he has tapered down to 3 mg at the time of the interview. Off all substances since January 2025, Rocky had many restarts along his path, which required a stint in residential rehab and sober living along with MOUD injection.
