Why does God send us into seasons of being alone?

Throughout the Bible, as people drew near to the Lord, the more isolated their lives became. Noah, David, and even Jesus went through seasons of being alone. This seems difficult because being alone can be one of the hardest experiences of being a human, but still God allows it for different reasons. Why does God do this?
