EPISODE 5 - Three Letters, A Whole Lot of Boars (Ted Laird)

Three letters. A whole lot of boars. And decades of building genetics from the ground up.In Episode #5, we sit down with Ted Laird of Laird’s Premium Blend Genetics to talk about the evolution of a program that has become synonymous with some of the most influential boars in the showpig industry. From a career change later in life to building a business where family does everything on the farm, Ted shares the lessons learned along the way… and why the end goal for the stud has always been predictable genetics.Brice & JD dig into the evolution of stoutness and bone, what it takes to build genetics that consistently work, and the story behind the boar heard round the world - Shockwave. And through it all, Ted talks about something that has nothing to do with pedigrees or phenotype, but may be just as important: the impact of having a positive attitude and surrounding yourself with the right people. There’s plenty of insight, a lot of laughs, and, of course, a great edition of EXTENDED BIDDING to wrap it all up.
