#410 Modern Apostles and Prophets? Examining the New Apostolic Reformation | Brandon Kimber

The New Apostolic Reformation has become increasingly influential in churches, worship music, conferences, and even politics—but what exactly is it, and how can Christians recognize its teachings? In this episode, I’m joined by filmmaker Brandon Kimber, director and editor of the American Gospel films, to discuss the newest installment, American Gospel: Spirit & Fire, an 18-episode documentary series examining the New Apostolic Reformation. We talk about the defining beliefs of the NAR, including modern-day apostles and prophets, claims of new revelation, the five-fold ministry, prosperity theology, and the movement’s understanding of spiritual authority. We also discuss why many leaders associated with these teachings reject the NAR label, and how Christians can evaluate the movement based on its actual theology and practices rather than labels alone. We also dig into one of the biggest questions listeners had after my previous episode: What exactly is a “NAR song”? Brandon explains how NAR theology can find its way into worship music through Bethel Music and other ministries, and we discuss how Christians and church leaders can think carefully and biblically about the songs they sing. Finally, we address the growing intersection between NAR leaders and conservative politics, the danger of compromising gospel clarity for political influence, and why faithfulness to the biblical gospel must remain central. If you’ve been wondering what the NAR is, how to identify it, or why Spirit & Fire was created, this conversation will help you understand the movement and the theological concerns surrounding it.American Gospel: https://www.americangospelfilm.com/-----------------------------------------------------------------This video is sponsored by:SEVEN WEEKS COFFEETaste the Coffee that is Saving Lives.Go to http://www.sevenweekscoffee.com/ for more information.Use my code: ALISAWE HEART NUTRITIONFrom Our Family to Yours, Whole Supplements for Every Age and Stage.Go to http://www.weheartnutrition.com  for more information.Use my code: ALISARANGE LEATHERAmerican-Made Craftsmanship from WyomingGo to www.rangeleather.com for more informationUse my code: ALISA----------------------------------------------------------------------Booking: www.alisachilders.com/bookingTo Purchase the new CD, “Beauty from the Ash”, go to www.alisachilders.com/musicThere you can get the CD, backing tracks, string charts, rhythm charts and stems.Support us on Patreon:  www.patreon.com/alisachildersTo order “Another Gospel”:  www.alisachilders.com/another-gospel/To order “Live Your Truth":  www.alisachilders.com/live-your-truth-and-other-lies/To order “The Deconstruction of Christianity”: https://alisachilders.com/the-deconstruction-of-christianity/Potential Sponsors: https://alisachilders.com/sponsor-request-form/
