A Biblical Legacy of Courage: Aner Shapira's Parents Remember the Hero Who Stood at the Shelter Door on October 7

Three years ago, on October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked the Nova festival in southern Israel. Inside a crowded bomb shelter, a 22-year-old off-duty soldier named Aner Shapira promised to throw back any grenade that came through the door. He did it seven times. The eighth took his life. At least seven people in that shelter survived.In this Focus on Israel conversation, Laurie Cardoza-Moore talks with Aner's mother, Shira, and his father, Moshe. They describe the last meal the whole family shared, the shelter, and the legacy of a young man who wrote music, painted, and stood at the door for strangers.
