Scripture: Mark 7:1–8, Romans 13 The Pharisees and teachers of the law looked devoted to God. They knew Scripture, followed many religious traditions, and appeared very obedient. But when they criticized Jesus’ disciples for eating without performing a ceremonial washing, Jesus revealed what was truly happening beneath their outward appearance: they honored God with their words, but their hearts were far from Him.
