Do Alien Civilizations simply exist too far away and at different periods to ever truly find each other? Would a galactic internet help us connect with other Alien Civilizations? Author and filmmaker Timothy Ferris joins John Michael Godier to discuss this and his part in the production of the Voyager Golden Record with Carl Sagan. Where is everybody? The mysterious interstellar object Oumuamua. What is Oumuamua?Darryl Seligman joins John Michael Godier on Event Horizon to discuss his new paper which theorizes that the interstellar object Oumuamua may possibly be something never before seen, a hydrogen iceberg. The hydrogen iceberg travelled through the universe and the interstellar medium to our solar system and has proved to be a hard mystery to solve.‘Oumuamua Might Be a Giant Interstellar Hydrogen Iceberg https://www.wired.com/story/oumuamua-might-be-a-giant-interstellar-hydrogen-iceberg/A Hydrogen Iceberg from a Failed Star Might Have Passed through Our Solar Systemhttps://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-hydrogen-iceberg-from-a-failed-star-might-have-passed-through-our-solar-system/Evidence that 1I/2017 U1 (`Oumuamua) was composed of molecular hydrogen ice.” Seligman and Laughlin, Astrophysical Journal Lettershttps://arxiv.org/abs/2005.12932Study by UChicago, Yale scientists lays out origin story for object named ‘Oumuamua https://news.uchicago.edu/story/mysterious-interstellar-visitor-was-probably-dark-hydrogen-iceberg-not-aliensWant to support the channel?Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/EventHorizonShowFollow us at other places!Website: https://www.eventhorizonshow.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/jmgeventhorizonInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmgeventhorizon/Music featured on Event Horizonhttps://stellardrone.bandcamp.com/https://migueljohnson.bandcamp.com/https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/https://aeriumambient.bandcamp.com/Is Oumuamua a hydrogen iceberg?Oumuamua a hydrogen iceberg from a failed star.
What is the Theory of Everything?Stephen Wolfram recently announced the Wolfram Physics project, a way to find the fundamental theory of physics. Is it a theory of everything? And how does it describe General Relativity and Einstein’s work? John Michael Godlier is joined by Jonathan Gorard to discuss the Wolfram physics project, and why it may be a beautiful path towards the fundamental theory of physics.Wolfram Physics links: http://wolfr.am/physicsThe announcement post: http://wolfr.am/physics-announcementParticipate: https://wolfr.am/physics-toolsFind the technical documents: https://wolfr.am/physics-documentsWant to support the channel?Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/EventHorizonShowFollow us at other places!Website: https://www.eventhorizonshow.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/jmgeventhorizonInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jmgeventhorizon/Music featured on Event Horizonhttps://stellardrone.bandcamp.com/https://migueljohnson.bandcamp.com/https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/https://aeriumambient.bandcamp.com/FOOTAGE:NASAESA/HubbleESO - M.KornmesserESO - L.CalcadaESO - Jose Francisco Salgado (josefrancisco.org)NAOJUniversity of WarwickGoddard Visualization StudioLangley Research CenterPixabay
A team of Astronomers from Cardiff University and MIT announced today the discovery of finding a rare molecule, phosphine, in the clouds of Venus. Here on Earth, Phosphine is usually only found to be made by microbes that live in oxygen-free environments or made industrially. There have been past hints of life in the clouds of Venus, where the temperature is much more hospitable for life than the surface. This finding of Phosphine on Venus could be a hint that alien life exists there.R.J. Graham is a Department of Physics student in Atmospheric PhysicsClarendon Laboratory working in Ray Pierrehumbert's group at Oxford. Currently his research is focused on modeling geochemical climate feedbacks on rocky planets. He is supported by a Clarendon Scholarship.JMG video: https://youtu.be/aDL0jbOnTtAPapers:Phosphine gas in the cloud decks of Venushttps://www.nature.com/articles/s41550-020-1174-4Phosphine on Venus Cannot be Explained byConventional Processeshttps://arxiv.org/pdf/2009.06499.pdfThe Venusian Lower Atmosphere Haze as a Depot for Desiccated Microbial Life: A Proposed Life Cycle for Persistence of the Venusian Aerial Biospherehttps://www.liebertpub.com/doi/full/10.1089/ast.2020.2244Phosphine as a Biosignature Gas in ExoplanetAtmosphereshttps://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1910/1910.05224.pdfThumbnail: Image: planet-c project team/JAXAWant to support the channel?Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/EventHorizonShowFollow us at other places!Website: https://www.eventhorizonshow.com/Twitter: @jmgeventhorizonInstagram: @jmgeventhorizonMusic featured on Event Horizonhttps://stellardrone.bandcamp.com/https://migueljohnson.bandcamp.com/https://leerosevere.bandcamp.com/https://aeriumambient.bandcamp.com/FOOTAGE:NASAESA/HubbleESO - M.KornmesserESO - L.CalcadaESO - Jose Francisco Salgado (josefrancisco.org)NAOJUniversity of WarwickGoddard Visualization StudioLangley Research CenterPixabay
Proxima Centauri is a small, low-mass star located 4.2465 light-years away from the Sun in the southern constellation of Centaurus. Last month there was the announcement of BLC1, a possible SETI candidate signal spatially coming from Proxima Centauri. But what is the Proxima Centauri system like? Could life exist on Proxima B? Would intelligent life be able to withstand the solar flares from Proxima?Parallax Nick, is a science presenter and YouTuber with a channel that focuses on sharing his thoughts and knowledge of science, history and the multiverse at large.
