The Holy Spirit: His Roles in Our Lives | The Final Episode

We had no idea when we sat down to record this conversation that it would become the final episode of Grit and Grace with Tonya Bruton.Josh and I were coming out of an unusually difficult week filled with frustration, obstacles, disillusionment, opposition, and some of the worst writer’s block I had experienced in a long time. Somewhere in the middle of trying to push through all of it, we realized something we both needed to hear:Creating content about God cannot replace actually living with God.So we sat down and talked.For nearly an hour, Josh and I explore what we have come to understand about the Holy Spirit—His presence, His purpose, His roles and functions in our lives, the ways He teaches, comforts, convicts and leads us, and what it means to depend on Him in ordinary life.There was no planned farewell. No retrospective. No carefully scripted ending.We simply sat together and talked about God.We finished recording, shut everything down and went on with our evening. It wasn’t until the following day that I realized what neither of us knew while we were recording:After three and a half years, Grit and Grace had reached its end.And somehow, I love that this is how it happened.Instead of spending our final hour looking backward at the podcast, we spent it talking about the Holy Spirit and our need to make room for Him beyond podcasts, posts, studies, ministries and all the other things that can sometimes become substitutes for the relationship itself.This conversation closes a chapter I am deeply proud of—three and a half years of stories, guests, questions, family, faith, recovery, difficult conversations, laughter, growth and grace.Grit and Grace will always be part of my story.But endings have a strange way of becoming beginnings.For now, this is where we leave the microphone:Talking about God.—Tonya
