For hours, unto days, unto weeks, the crew of the LIttle Snail delved the Castle Eschatonica with their new allies, the Source Rot Investigators from the Elevana League. In the heart of the void, these adventurers escaped the wrath of dragons, met a fallen god, recovered lost, living gems… and found not only a route out, but a whole new method of travel entirely. Jonathan named his new airship 'The Adventures Beckons,' and so, it does: But before it can be attended to in earnest—before he, Elena, Nicky, Veile, Flegbot, and their coterie of gems—can find and reach the White Lectern—they must first say goodbye to the little town of Spillaway Peaks, where Terapine ever-strive to prepare for the cycle's end. But when will that end be? Is it still centuries away, or might the many ill portents across Perpetua prove what some whisper: The clock runs short. The stars have faltered. An inverted eclipse. Cattle, obliterated. The return of dragons. Fire, cataclysmic. Invasion and War. Prayers go unanswered. A ruinous wind. It is to this moment, this Perpetua-in-crisis, that the Little Snail and its roving staff returns to. Are the days of easy adventuring behind them? Is there no more blue in the sky now that they can traverse it? These are questions they dare not stop to answer. For it is time to prepare: To master this new vessel. To gather supplies for the journey. To meet new allies. To take new oaths. And to learn (or to remember) that it is never guaranteed that you can go home again. This week on Perpetua: At the Threshold 01 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.061] Some Feedback [Page 73 of 75] TheUnforgivenIII Okay. Do NOT be an @$$h0le to me, because you all KNOW I hate asking for help. But I can't tell if I hit a weird bug or something. I finished up Castle Eschatonica finally last night and my Tidaline party got put back up in the southern part of the Clayridge Mountains (as expected). I wanted to go down into Spillaway Peaks to restock on some stuff when leaving, but it won't let me. Like I can walk down one area from where the airship is, and then when I get to the edge of the zone, it just pops up a Do Not Enter type sign. Is this bugged. Alukard83 Uh, well… Is Jonathan in your party? TheUnforgivenIII Uh, well… didn't I JUST say I had the airship? So OBVIOUSLY he's in my party. Alukard83 UH, WELL, SO, OBVIOUSLY, YOU CAN'T GO BACK INTO SPILLAWAY PEAKS IF YOU GOT THE AIRSHIP FROM THE BECKONINGS. THAT WAS THE COST OF THE AIRSHIP xXZelgadyskXx You're right, but come on, there's no need to shout XD Just swap Jonathan out of your party for now Unforgiven. Then you can go into town. TheUnforgivenIII UH WELL SO OBVIOUSLY YOU CAN GO STRAIGHT TO HELL ALUCARD. IF THAT WAS TRUE THEY SHOULD'VE ACTUALLY TOLD ME THAT IN THE GAME. THE WAY IT WAS PHRASED WAS AMBIBIGUOUS ASND YOU COULD READ IT DIFERENTLY THAN THAT. I THOUGHT IT MEANT YOU COULDN'T GO BACK INTO JONATHANS FAMILY (WHO SUCKS) HOUSE, SO IT WASN'T REALLY A COST ATALL. BUT NOW YOUR SAYING I CANT EVEN GO FUCKING SHOPPING WITH JONATHAN ANYMORE? WHAT HAPPENS IF I GET A RADNOM ENCOUNTER, DO I JUST NOT GET TO HAVE MY STRONGEST CHARACTER??????? ABSOLUTE HORSE SHIT STRAIGHT FROM THE DONKEY'S ASS, JUST LIKE YOU (This user was temporarily banned for this post. They will be unbanned: 1 week from the Post.) All aboard the Adventure Beckons! Drawn back together after a disastrous time apart, a reunited team of Eschatonica explorers must fight their way to escape. But the Creed of Oracle's most determined soldiers haven't given up on taking Jonathan's new airship back yet… This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 08 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Some Feedback [Page 69 of 71] FriendofNei So what was everyone's favorite part of Eschatonica? For me, it was getting to mix up the two parties and see how their abilities worked together. Antistrophe, Nicky, and Jonathan are a real powerhouse team! Doom_Tree_Anne I loved mixing the parties too, but more for the special conversations you can get! I hope Brontë can spend more time with Veile and Elena later in the game. TheDiamondRanger Why? Do they get cool bonuses? Doom_Tree_Anne Haha, no, I just like to see them together n.n;;;;;; TheUnforgivenIII The Redolencia and Ichoria Celestial Echoes were fuggin bad ass. I gotta go play those games, they seem metal as hell. Doom_Tree_Anne Oh, they are quite metal indeed! I'd say that was my favorite part as well. Especially getting to see the Agonies rendered in the Perpetua style! What a treat for a long time fan! Alukard83 I loved the Agonies, but I wish they got to stick around long term. I think my favorite part was the exploration. I loved mapping out all the hallways and dead ends. TheUnforgivenIII Why would you like like to map out a dead end. It's a dead end. Dumbass. Lol page 69 btw TheDiamondRanger Why is that Lol? CarlsSr Log off until you're old enough to post. With a single step, a world shattered and the stars faltered. Those who witnessed the destruction must face the future and pick up the pieces, but first they must escape the Dragon Path and return home—or at least near it. To do that, though, they'll need to capture Jonathan's airship, the Adventure Beckons, from the Creed of Oracles… This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 07 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] NPCs & Monsters [PNMS] Creed of Oracles Infantry [NMCOIN] Typical Traits: Gritty, Grim Type: Humanoid Hunter Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 10, INS 8, MIG 10, WLP 6 Attacks: Holy Salvo, Forceful Flurry Special Abilities: Summon Platemail Elemental Affinities: RES: Physical | VUL: Dark, Poison In-Game Description: With blessed light armor, rifle, and bayonet, Infantry make up the bulk of the Oracle's ranks. The rank-and-file soldier in the Creed of Oracles. If you decide to rush across the open courtyard when you first arrive to area of the castle, you can fight an infinite number of these guys. They aren't especially hardy, but their Holy Salvo is built specifically to knock out sturdy physical characters, so don't underestimate them! Starter Tip: If you can do it, try to dispel their summoned platemail, it'll make fighting them toe to toe a lot easier. Hovering Pyroclastic Typical Traits: Precise, Devoted, Short-fused Type: Humanoid Support Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 8, INS 8, MIG 6, WLP 10 Attacks: Ignition, Volcanic Charge Special Abilities: Flying, Bracing Ash Elemental Affinities: RES: AIr, Earth [Can gain Fire] | VUL: Dark, Ice, [Starts with Fire] In-Game Description: A soldier in the robes and armor of the Creed of Oracles with flamethrower and a number of volcanic explosives at their belt. These floating demolitionists punch through your elemental defenses and their volcanic charges are like sticky grenades that give a boost to anything that hits your side of the field. Most importantly: They can cover themselves in a magical ash that will boost their might and give them a Fire resistance. Once they do this, they sort of become solid all-arounders, so it's best to knock them out before they can do that. Starter Tip: Hit them with Dark or Ice damage to bring them down to melee range! Fares, Devout Chef Traits: Tricky, Inventive, Religious, Adaptable Type: Humanoid Saboteur Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 8, INS 8, MIG 8, WLP 8 Attacks: Poison Vial Special Abilities: Bottled Vigour, Enervating Powder Elemental Affinities: RES: Earth, Fire, Light| VUL: Air, Dark, Ice In-Game Description: A chef of the Creed of Oracles. Master of the Kitchen and Pantry. This guy SUCKS! I don't even mean in combat, he's fine to fight. But as a character, I hate how he can draw you into conflict. There's basically only one way through his conversation tree that doesn't draw you either into combat with him immediately (with reinforcements coming soon after) or up into the Barracks where his friends are. Personally, I prefer to just knock him out ASAP and then sneak up to the hidden passage a few rooms away. Starter Tip: If he manages to poison you, don't forget to use your IP for an Antitote. Poisoned doesn't do damage over times like in some games, instead it saps BOTH your Might and Willpower, so whether it hits a bruiser or a mage, you're in trouble! Ushala, Conduit Traits: Mysterious, Possessed, Sacrificial Type: Demon Mage Level: 10 Rank: Soldier Stats: DEX 10, INS 8, MIG 10, WLP 6 Attacks: Heaven's Light, Heaven's Glory, Heaven's Call Special Abilities
Confrontations with Villains need not be catastrophic. Some hostile encounters, including those against enemy bosses, can be de-escalated through conversation or completed through clever use of Objective action. Parties specializing in tools of foresight can leverage their navigational upperhand to outmaneuver potentially deadly encounters all together. Some clashes—especially those with reality-shaking stakes—seem written into the fabric of Perpetua itself. But even these, despite the long odds, have many possible resolutions. This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 06 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Some Feedback [Page 68 of 68] CarlsSr So uh, has anyone won the big fight in Eschatonica? TheUnforgivenIII Holeeeeeyyyyy $#!+!!! HOT SHOT CARLS SR (more like JUNIOR) FINALLY HAS TO ASK US LOWLY NOOBS A QUESTION. Not such a big shot one-liner now are you. Finally got brought down to your knees by the Creed of Oracles and their holy knights, huh? Doom_Tree_Anne Okay, Unforgiven, let's dial it back a little bit. Not everyone is perfect. In fact, you even got something wrong in your post. They're not "holy knights," which you would know if you had played Armidirge II: Marcellina's Tears (which came out in the US and UK as Armidirge 2: Holy Reign). About halfway through the game, right after the destruction of the East Cathedral, Beri calls Carcenia "one of those high-and-mighty holy knights of the Creed" and Carcenia says "Tsk. There haven't been holy knights for six hundred years. We are saints, revived!" In any case, I had a pretty hard time with that fight until I just let Antistrophe take the lead. You can really build him perfectly for the one-on-one fights! FriendOfNei Agreed on Antistrophe there, though if you mean the second fight with the Creed, there's a lot of other options. The key (I think) is making sure to get the second party involved as soon as possible. Otherwise you can really get overwhelmed, especially by Ushala with all that multi-target light damage she can do. CarlsSr Wait. You thought I was talking about THAT fight? Lololol, you really are all lost. Conflict and complication at the edge of Eschatonica! In the Creed of Oracles' fortress courtyard, Antistrophe, Nicky, and Jonathan find out just how far the protocols of war go. And for those on the other side of the vast castle, progress will come only with mastery of another world's language and ritual… This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 05 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Spoiler-free Ten Hint Puzzle Guide This new section is inspired by the community addendum that xXzelgadyskXx did for the Alteros masquerade puzzle. As always, I want to try to preserve some sense of mystery for people using this guide, so I'll give a series of ten progressively more direct hints, but won't ever give the direct solution. Springsong Mural Puzzle The large mural depicting Sprinsong's legendary Heroes of the Spark is more than meets the eye. Just be careful, because if you make too many wrong moves, the ostrich-like automatons will activate and defend the secrets here! Hint 1 There's more to the mural than meets the eye. Look closely at the symbols AND the middle… Hint 2 Some of the floor tiles in this room look different than the others. Hint 3 Remember how you dealt with the flowers in the previous room? 'Springsong' is more than just a name. Hint 4 Springsong and Perpetua have different, but corresponding elements. You have to map them one to one if you want to crack this puzzle. Don't look at the next clue if you want to figure this one out yourself! Hint 5 Symbol Springsong Element Perpetua Element 3 Curved Sideways S's Breeze Air Downward Zigzags Spark Bolt Crescent Night Dark Triangle Mountain Earth Open Square Hearth Fire Teardrop Spring Ice Open Circle Sun Light Quatrefoil (Clover) Nature Poison Hint 6 In the story hidden in the Flower Room, you can learn that while the evil sorcerer of Springsong used all the elements (except Spark/Bolt) to harm the world, he took complete control of Spring (Ice), Night (Dark), and Nature (Poison). Hint 7 You'll have to use the magic of the remaining elements (Air, Bolt, Earth, Fire, Light) to complete this puzzle. Remember that in Springsong, you must perform in order to use magic! Hint 8 Don't just look at the Mural, use the "Study" action on the heroes depicted there. What can you learn from their names? Hint 9 By combining the elements together you can create different letter runes. Pay attention to the combinatory effect! By the way, the letter Z doesn't seem to exist in Springsong. Hint 10 The heroes of Springsong must be very naive if this is the password to their secret vault... As the crew of the Little Snail and the Sourcerot investigators continue to delve the depths of the Castle Eschatonica, new voices are heard in the air. For those in the western half of the castle, the voices are brusque and severe, shaped to fit the prepared phrases necessary for a most hospitable war. But in the east, the voices lilt and shine, like dewy petals in a breeze. Is such a sound an invitation or something more nefarious… This week on perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 04 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Some Feedback [Page 66 of 68] TheUnforgivenIII So uhhhh does anyone have any tips for the minigame in the antechamber? I'm hitting all the buttons right, but I keep losing, and I want the best outcome. Alukard83 I don't think the outcome actually matters. You just get like, a little buff if you win. CarlsSr Well you're definitely not hitting ALL the buttons right TheUnforgivenIII I'm. Hitting. ALL. The BUTTONS. RIGHT.!!!! xXZelgadyskXx So I got stuck on this one for a WHILE until we spent like five hours testing it out together on IRC. Here're my tips: Accuracy is more important than speed. If you miss more than three button presses, you're GOING to come into second, no matter how fast you go. Pick your dominant hand (so if you're right handed, use the face buttons, if you're left handed, use the d-pad). Speed IS still important. If your party leader doesn't have at least 15 by the time one of the other characters has 18, you're just not going to win. Reset and start over. For me, whistling a song that's the right pace really helped. I did "Row Row Row Your Boat" but as if "Your Boat" never happens. Just: Row Row Row Row Row Row Row, et cetera, you know? Finally, don't worry about it. You just get like a little buff I think. CarlsSr I think I'm the one all hitting buttons, buddy. For Semiotician Uklan Tel, the discovery of the object in the vaults of the New Archives was a gift he could scarcely have hoped for. The Holy City, walled and impenetrable, had fascinated him for so long. He'd pored over the Marieldan documents and artifacts that the Archives had collected over the years so many times that his name repeated in the access cards like a prayer . But here was something new - misfiled, overlooked - that had evaded his eye all this time. He was starting to take notes for a book. We could not be more excited to unveil the Marielda 10th Anniversary Vinyl Soundtrack edition in all its unfolding, kaleidoscopic color, and let you know that it is now available to preorder at lostincult.co.uk/marielda. A very limited number of signed copies still remain, to be followed by a second, unsigned run. This extra-special edition, which began in early ideas and sketches six long years ago, is based on concepts by Annie Johnston-Glick and illustrated by Elemei, and is created in collaboration with the British publisher and designworks Lost in Cult. The centerpiece, alongside the full Marielda soundtrack, is the "star book", an unfolding, layered diorama showing four scenes from that fateful High Sun Day, secured by a red ribbon. This object exists in-fiction and tells a story, discovered in the cavernous vaults of The New Archives by Semiotician Uklan Tel, and shipped (much to the chagrin of the Archives' Exceptional Loans division) to a friend in Velas. In addition to the vinyl and star book, contained inside are two enamel pins showing coinage of ancient Hieron, as well as five bone-white d6 dice emblazoned with the sigil of the second god to rule the holy city. Alongside Tel's covering letter, you can also find eight pieces of Marieldan paper ephemera: an undelivered postcard bought by a holidaymaker at a pleasure garden, a double-sided broadsheet of Marielda's newspaper "The Charioteer", and six other mysterious pieces from the City of First Light at a time of great change. Oh, and there's also a 7" vinyl with a plain red label, and we'll say no more on that for now. We've already been blown away by yesterday's response to this project from our Patrons, which has really helped demonstrate that there's an audience for physical media projects from Friends at the Table. It has been an absolute joy to return to this world in collaboration with such incredible artists and designers. Writing in character as gods, citizens, and tourists to the holy city (as well as people thousands of years later, trying to make sense of what they hold in their hands) has been a real treat and we are so excited to finally - finally! - get to share it with you.
In a chamber of the Castle Eschatonica, filled with technology from another world, Veile, Caoimhe, Elena, and Brontë investigate the truth behind their mysterious gems (and the seemingly lost universes they were once connected to). Meanwhile, on the other side of the metaphysical fortress, Uncle Nicky, Jonathan, Antistrophe and their newly acquired Agonies encounter a brusque soldier from a war whose rules they can barely understand. This week on Perpetua: Escape the Rumbling Castle! 03 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.06] Celestial Echoes [CECH] Imago [CEIM] While I haven't played the Imago games myself, from what I've read, it's a game about the power and cost of the creative spirit. And also demons, maybe? In any case, the way that this Echo shows up in the Castle Eschatonica is the Agonies, a special set of NPCs you can acquire who can grant even non-spell casters the ability to cast a few key spells! Melo (he/him) Traits: Relaxed, Friendly, Sleepy Status/Element: Slow/Air Description: A living statue of a little knee high elephant man, smoking a pipe. Ability: Trumpet Toss - 10 - Self - Instantaneous Melo wakes up and releases blasts of air from his trunk, sending you flying across the battlefield. You may immediately perform a free attack with a melee weapon you have equipped. This attack may target creatures that can only be targeted by ranged attacks. If you used a weapon belonging to the brawling or spear Category for this attack, it deals 5 extra damage. If you hit a flying target with this attack, you may force them to land immediately. Wan (he/him) Traits: Sickly, Curious, Hopeful Status/Element: Weak/Ice Description: A painting of a strange looking child in bed, under a blanket, covered in shadows. Ability: A Chill Air (attack) - 10 x T - Up to Three Targets - Instantaneous Wan coughs, and the temperature in the room drops low. The targets suffer【HR + 15】ice damage. Opportunity: Each target hit by this spell suffers Weak. Hezzi (they/them) Traits: Afraid, Tentative, Big Status/Element: (Shaken/Physical) Description: A ghostly, one-eyed ogre who quietly plays their piano until someone approaches. Ability: Intimidating Presence (attack) - 5 x T - Up to Three Creatures - Instantaneous Hezzi shows themself in fully material form, strikes an aggressive pose, and roars, giving every target Shaken. Miss Mephitic (she/her) Traits: Layered, Beautiful, Frightening Status/Element: (Poisoned/Poison) Description: A human-sized music box ballerina, from which vines, petals, and teeth emerge. Ability: Bloody Thorn (attack) - 20 - One Creature - Instantaneous Mephi's vines strike out at a target, doing 【HR + 15】poison damage and giving them the Poisoned status. Connie (she/they) Traits: Excitable, Mercurial, Confused Status/Element (Dazed/Bolt) Description: A fuzzy television on a wheeled cart which continually changes channels, occasionally landing on young woman with frizzy, dirty blonde hair . Ability: Surprise Shock (attack) - 20 - One creature - Instantaneous Connie slams into your foe and electrifies them. The target suffers【HR + 25】bolt damage. Damage is doubled against a target who is Dazed Ira (he/him) Traits: Irritable, Small, Loyal Status/Element: Enraged / Fire Description: A ceramic pot with a little angry red devil cherub on it—and the impish being itself. Ability: Devil's Breath (attack) - 10 × T - Up to three creatures - Instantaneous Ira unleashes a blast of fiery breath at your foes. Each target hit by this spell suffers【HR + 15】fire damage. Opportunity: Each target hit by this spell suffers enraged.
