I’m Chris Hall, this is the Downtime Podcast, and you’re tuned into your World Cup pre-race warm-up show with the one and only Chris Kilmurray. Before we get into it, a quick ask… if you enjoy these shows and want them to keep happening, we really need your support. This series is fully independent, we don’t have brand backing. Putting it together means paying Chris, Neko and Olly for their time, and getting to races where possible to bring you the best coverage we can. It’s a big commitment, and it only works because of you. Last season, a few hundred of you stepped up and made it happen and we’d love to build on that this year. So if you’re into World Cup downhill and want the best insight going, head to patreon.com/downtimepodcast and support from as little as £3 a month. It genuinely makes a difference. We’ll also be bringing back things like our mid-season Patreon hangout with Chris, Neko and Olly, so you can get involved directly too. Alright, the races are coming thick and fast now and we’ve hot footed it across the mountains to the stunning Bike Kingdom in Lenzerheide. A track we all know well, but no doubt it will deliver some exciting racing. As always, Chris brings the insight you won’t find elsewhere. So sit back, hit play and listen to this Lenzerheide pre-race show with Chris Kilmurray. Luca Shaw is back on the podcast, and this time we’ve got a World Cup winner on our hands. After more than a decade at the sharp end of downhill racing, countless podiums, near misses, injuries, team changes and seasons where it looked like the win might never come, Luca finally stood on the top step of a UCI Downhill World Cup in Loudenvielle. For anyone that’s followed the sport over the last ten years, it was one of those moments that felt like it meant just as much to the fans and the paddock as it did to the rider himself. So, in this episode, we’re catching up with Luca to hear the story behind that breakthrough win. We talk about what it took to finally get the monkey off his back, whether the victory changes anything for him moving forward, and what was going through his head in the start gate and at the finish line. We also dive into his season so far, the level of competition in downhill right now and if he’s planning to add more wins to his tally. Luca’s always been one of the most thoughtful and honest riders in the sport, and this was a great chance to sit down and unpack one of the biggest moments of his career. So sit back, hit play and listen to this episode with Luca Shaw. You can also watch this episode on YouTube here. You can follow Luca on Instagram @luca_shaw. One of the things I enjoy most about this podcast is getting the chance to speak with athletes right at the point where everything is starting to come together. The results are appearing, the confidence is growing, and you get a glimpse of where they might be headed next. That’s exactly where Elliot Jamieson finds himself. After coming through the downhill ranks, stepping onto World Championship podiums as a junior and then making the move to Enduro, Elliot has steadily been building towards becoming one of the most exciting riders in the discipline. But what stood out to me in this conversation wasn’t just the speed. It was the way he thinks about the sport. We talk about growing up in a big sporting family, the pressure that comes with early success, making the switch from downhill to Enduro, and how a difficult run of injuries helped shape the rider he is today. We also dive into confidence, preparation, bike setup, building a racing programme, and where he thinks Enduro sits as a sport right now. Elliot is thoughtful, analytical and clearly committed to the process of becoming the best rider he can be. And after the progress he showed last season, it’s hard not to feel like we’re watching one of the riders who could help define the next era of Enduro racing. So sit back, hit play and listen to this episode with Elliot Jamieson. You can also watch this episode on YouTube here. You can follow Elliot on Instagram @elliotjamieson_ and on YouTube here.
