Daniel, having just left an argument with his mother Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), encounters a distraught Abby who is grappling with her husband Devon Winters' (Bryton James) anger issues. Abby's distress amplifies as Devon's anger begins to impact all his relationships, including with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). Y&R spoilers suggest that Devon's anger stems from his friend Mariah Copeland's (Camryn Grimes) kidnapping of his son, Dominic Chancellor (River & Rainn Ware). Despite Devon's efforts to have Mariah's plea deal overturned in favor of a jail sentence, Abby and the rest of Genoa City believes Mariah needs mental health support rather than incarceration. Devon's wrath also extends towards his sister Lily's acceptance of Cane and Holden Novak (Nathan Owens) into her life. Spoilers for Young and Restless indicate that despite Abby's attempts to help Devon through his anger issues, with assistance from her mother Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Devon remains unresponsive. This unresponsiveness distresses both Abby and Dominic, despite Devon's assertions to the contrary. As Abby and Devon's marriage grows increasingly strained, Daniel steps in to offer a sympathetic ear. Daniel encourages Abby to remain supportive of Devon, and even invites her to Noah Newman's (Lucas Adams) Shadow Room Club as a form of distraction.  Young and the Restless unveils a significant shift behind the scenes, with the confirmation of new head writers Jamie Giddens and co-writer Dan O'Connor replacing Josh Griffith.
