St. Andrew Kim, Korea's first native priest, was beheaded at 25 — two years after a layman's secret mission made his ordination possible. Paul Chong risked his life smuggling pleas to Church leaders in Beijing for priests to be sent to Korea's outlawed, hidden Catholics. His persistence led to Andrew Kim's ordination in 1844 as Korea's first native priest — before both men were martyred for the faith they'd given everything to serve. "It is for Him that I die.
