St. Joseph of Cupertino, mocked as a boy for being slow, would later rise off the ground during Mass in front of stunned crowds. Dismissed by one religious order after another for struggling to keep up, Joseph barely passed his ordination exams — the bishop happened to test him on the one Bible verse he knew well. Once ordained, his overwhelming love for Christ in the Eucharist sometimes lifted him bodily off the floor during Mass, earning him the nickname "the Flying Friar."
