In a culture that encourages instant reactions, public clapping back, and constant online drama, self-control can feel like a forgotten virtue. In this insightful teaching, Apostle Otis B. Young unpacks how emotional discipline, guarded speech, and spiritual maturity are essential for living a victorious Christian life. Moving beyond just diet or spending habits, self-control touches our facial expressions, our social media posts, our mental thought life, and how we handle conflict with others. Through practical examples from Jesus' life, wisdom from the book of Proverbs, and candid personal insights, you will discover how to guard your peace and refuse to give toxic situations the reaction they are looking for. -- Understanding self-control as a fruit of the Spirit that governs our emotions, facial expressions, and reactions. -- Learning from Jesus’ example of restraint in the wilderness and on the cross when He chose not to retaliate. -- Recognizing "quiet instigators" and "rage baiters" while choosing not to give them the reaction they want. -- Mastering the discipline of guarded speech by knowing when to speak and when to remain silent ("quiet on the creek"). -- Shifting from gossiping and "clocking the tea" to setting the standard and being an example ("be the tea"). -- Replacing physical or verbal retaliation with spiritual responses such as prayer, love, and forgiveness. -- Practical application of self-control in daily life, including social media usage, personal finances, and managing difficult phone calls. In this deep dive into the book of Acts, Pastor Joseph Davis breaks down how true, biblical generosity operates within the household of faith. Rather than rely on manipulation or commercializing the gifts of God, the early church established a culture rooted in top-down accountability, reliance on God's sovereignty during trials, and fresh fillings of the Holy Spirit. When leaders live out the standards they preach, an environment of deep trust is formed, releasing explosive grace and miraculous unity where no one stands in need. -- Leadership accountability begins at the top, as seen when Peter and John reported back to their people after facing trial and imprisonment. -- Standing firm in adversity demonstrates to believers that God remains sovereign over every hardship, scandal, and trial. -- Fresh fillings of the Holy Spirit are essential for renewing spiritual strength, restoring bold faith, and overcoming fatigue. -- Authentic biblical generosity is a voluntary act of the heart, flowing naturally from an atmosphere of trust rather than pressure or manipulation. -- True kingdom giving eliminates needy persons within the congregation while keeping the focus entirely on glorifying God. Many people go through life fearing that their past mistakes, secret struggles, or current failures have permanently disqualified them from God's love. In this transformative teaching, Pastor Steve Dow walks through Psalm 103, John 4, and key New Testament scriptures to unpack the true heart of the Godhead. Mercy isn't God winking at sin; it is His relentless love refusing to leave us where we are. Tune in to discover how receiving divine mercy changes the way we view our history, our neighbors, and our future. -- Mercy is active intervention, not passivity: God's mercy is far stronger than any guilt hanging over your soul, offering a divine way out when sin threatens to overtake you. -- The danger of double standards: Jesus makes it clear that the precise measuring stick we use to condemn others is the exact standard God will apply to us, making a merciful attitude essential for every believer. -- Clarifying the unforgivable sin: A clear biblical breakdown of why blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the line of demarcation, and why a born-again believer walking with God does not need to live in fear of crossing it. -- Repurposing your past: Exploring the story of the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well to prove that Jesus isn't afraid of your baggage, and that mercy doesn't just clean up your history—it repurposes it for ministry. -- Moving from judgment to joy: Why coming boldly to the throne of grace unlocks living water, breaking the chains of condemnation and establishing true spiritual freedom. In this powerful installment of the "A Tamed Tongue" series, Pastor Omar Ellison explores the profound impact our speech has on every area of our lives. Drawing directly from Scripture, he reveals how the words we consistently speak set spiritual laws in motion, shaping our health, relationships, finances, and spiritual walk. -- No man can tame the tongue in his own strength, but through total surrender to the Holy Ghost, our speech can be transformed to consistently release life into every situation. -- The words coming out of your mouth act as spiritual seeds, producing fruit after their own kind—whether that fruit brings negative frustration or divine life. -- God created a spiritual law where death and life reside directly in the power of your tongue, placing authority in your mouth to bring life even into seemingly dead situations. -- When you align your spoken words with God's truth, He creates the very fruit of your lips, bringing victory and restoration out of challenging circumstances. -- Holding fast to your confession of faith without wavering allows God to manifest His promises, regardless of what your current physical reality looks like. When facing modern skepticism, many Christians know the stories of the Bible but struggle to defend their historical and theological reliability. In this foundational episode of Anchored by Truth, hosts Victoria K. and RD Fierro explore the biblical account of Noah and the Flood through the lens of scripture, history, archaeology, and music. By examining the intricate literary design of Genesis, they demonstrate that the narrative of the Flood is far from a collection of randomly aggregated creation myths, revealing instead a carefully superintended account built upon covenant mercy. Key takeaways from this episode include: -- Genesis serves as the indispensable foundation for all biblical history and theology, establishing the origins of the universe, humanity, sin, death, and God's plan of redemption. -- The account of Noah and the Flood in Genesis 6 through 9 is structured as a massive four-chapter chiasmus, a sophisticated literary pattern where themes mirror one another to highlight a central focus: "God remembered Noah." -- Archaeological discoveries, such as early alphabetic inscriptions at Serabit el-Khadim and Wadi el-Hol, dismantle the old critical claim that early biblical authors lacked the writing technology needed to record historical accounts. -- Historical archives like the Nuzi and Mari tablets confirm that the cultural customs, legal traditions, and family structures depicted in Genesis accurately reflect the authentic ancient Near Eastern world. -- Over 68 percent of young believers walk away from their faith after leaving home because they know bible stories but have never been taught how to defend the truth behind them. -- The wooden ark that preserved Noah through the waters of divine judgment directly foreshadows the cross of Christ, where believers find ultimate salvation from sin. Navigating the Space Where Faith and Frustration Collide In week six of the "That's Crazy" series, Ryan Kramer dives into the miraculous account of the paralyzed man lowered through a rooftop to reach Jesus. Drawing a vivid comparison between mountain climbers facing the thin air of Mount Everest’s "death zone" and believers navigating grueling seasons of life, this message breaks down why pushing through spiritual resistance is vital to experiencing God's power. Learn how to overcome the human tendency to take the easy way out and discover how God uses obstacles, critics, and unexpected methods to bring ultimate healing. Key takeaways from this teaching include: -- Why human biology and spiritual nature default to the "law of least effort" when life gets difficult, and how to push past the urge to quit. -- How surrounding yourself with the right people determines whether you get left at the door or brought directly to the feet of Jesus. -- The danger of confusing "different" with "wrong" when God answers prayers in ways that don't fit our personal expectations. -- How God turns our critics into catalysts for our growth and healing. -- Why Jesus commands us to pick up and carry the very "mats" of past shame and failure that He delivered us from. References: (1) Ever since Darwin first published his Origin of Species, his defenders’ favorite TACTIC against critics have been to use the process with a Latin name ad hominem which means attack against the person. For example, Sir Richard Dawkins, the indefatigable defender of evolution and former professor of biology at the University of Oxford, wrote: “It is absolutely SAFE TO SAY that if you meet someone who claims NOT TO BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION, that person is IGNORANT, STUPID, or INSANE (or WICKED, but I’d rather not consider that).” (2) In the book “Darwinism Under the Microscope” by James P. Gillis, MD and Tom Woodward, PHD and in the chapter by Dr. Mark Hartwig called “Challenging Darwin’s Myths” is stated that “Darwin himself used [this tactic] against some of the greatest scientists of his day, accusing them of SUPERSTITION and RELIGIOUS BIAS.” (3) Hartwig continues, “Time has not been kind to Darwinism, however. Paleontologists have certainly found more fossils, but these fossils have only DEEPENED THE PROBLEM. What paleontologists discovered was NOT GRADUAL CHANGE, but STABILITY AND SUDDEN APPEARANCE. It seems that most fossil species APPEAR ALL AT ONCE, FULLY FORMED, and CHANGE VERY LITTLE THROUGHOUT THEIR EXISTENCE. (4) Even Oxford zoologist and prominent Darwinist Richard Dawkins has remarked, “It is as though they were JUST PLANTED THERE, without ANY EVOLUTIONARY HISTORY. . . . Darwinists, of course, express CONFIDENCE that future discoveries will clear up the mysteries. But so far, the research has only deepened them.” I would say confidence is NOT EVIDENCE. (5) An article from gotquestions.org indicates that FLAWS in the theory of evolution can be separated into 3 BASIC AREAS. I have added a fourth category. (6) Generally in the first edition of The Origin of Species Darwin made claims with NO SUPPORTING EVIDENCE. How can that version of Darwinian evolution be a SCIENCE if it does not use the scientific methodology? (7) Survival of the fittest on a short time line, is UNIVERSALLY ACCEPTED. But this is more about MAJOR TRANSITIONS. No scientist has ever observed a natural collection of organic chemicals SPONTANEOUSLY linking up to form a PROTEIN, or thousands of different proteins, fats, sugars, and minerals combining to CREATE A FUNCTIONAL CELL, or millions of different cells FUSING INTO A JELLYFISH, or anything remotely similar to an AMPHIBIAN, or a frog transitioning to a lizard, of a bear transitioning to a whale, or an ape GIVING BIRTH to a human. (8) The philosopher and historian Stephen Meyer writes, “Intelligent agents have unique CAUSAL POWERS that nature DOES NOT . When we observe effects that we know only agents can produce, we rightly INFER the presence of a PRIOR INTELLIGENCE even if we did not observe the ACTION of the particular agent responsible. Since DNA displays an effect (namely, information content) that in our experience only agents can produce, intelligent design (and not apparent design) stands as the best explanation for the information content in DNA.” This is episode 286.
Have you ever wondered why God has separated you, or why you cannot seem to live like everyone else around you? Many believers struggle to recognize their divine season of revelation and the fullness of God's plan for their lives. In this teaching, Servant Marcia Carty walks us through the scriptures, moving from the strict conditions of the Old Covenant in Deuteronomy to the breathtaking grace and authority offered to us under the New Covenant in Christ. Through this message, you will discover that you are not bound by the sins, mistakes, or curses of the past. By faith, the blood of Jesus purges our conscience, transforms our hearts, and equips us with divine authority over the enemy. Key takeaways from this teaching include: -- Understanding the difference between the conditional promises of the Old Covenant and the permanent grace of the New Covenant. -- How God provides a window of mercy through heart repentance and simple confession of faith. -- The secret to overcoming fear by meditating on the Word to build unshakeable faith. -- Why Jesus had to die to activate the testament that guarantees our eternal inheritance. -- The authority and power given to every believer to preach the kingdom, heal the sick, and walk in total victory over the enemy.
