The Voice Of GO(r)D podcast is delighted to finally bring you a discussion with Mr Cole Stevens of Stevens Trucking out of El Reno, Oklahoma. The son of a trucking family, Cole, like myself, is looking around at the state of the industry today and has decided to take action, which now includes running for a seat in the Oklahoma State House.A member of American Truckers United, Cole has been putting in some very hard yards in advocating for reforms to CDL issue and for putting an end to the insourced labor scams that have made our interstates so much more dangerous in recent years. Between many trips to DC in helping organize Dalilah’s Law, and working locally in Oklahoma with his own state government to pass SB20, Cole has been relentless in his pursuit of a safe and profitable future for the American trucking industry and its drivers, and shares with my listeners and I some details of the latest battle.Cole and I recorded this back in March in anticipation of my recent appearance on Tucker Carlson, where I gave Tucker the breaking news about a lawsuit Stevens Trucking, along with another company in Oklahoma, have launched against some of the same bad actors at play in the recent Montgomery v Caribe SCOTUS decision. Now that Tucker has finally released that episode, I can let rip with this one.Cole breaks down some of this lawsuit for us, the claims seeking redress, and what has caused such a great rift in the industry between brokerages and asset based carriers aka actual trucking companies with actual trucks. You can find my most recent appearance with Tucker here - https://tuckercarlson.com/tucker-show-gord-magil-060126You can follow Cole on Twitter - https://x.com/StevensOK26over on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/cole-stevens-3345329a/and on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/cole.stevens.73594Cole’s Oklahoma campaign FB page - https://www.facebook.com/STEVENSOKHD51Thanks for listening, and as always, any questions, comments, suggestions, corrections or Hate Mail can be directed to me here - gordilocks@protonmail.com
Voice Of GO(r)D is happy to bring you a conversation with two representatives from the Trucking Association of New York, the state level affiliate of the American Trucking Associations.WHAT?I’ve recently become acquainted with Mr Mark Stone, a lobbyist with TANY, and thought to myself, well, why not hear from someone on that side of the ledger? Mark brought along his colleague Zach, vice president of government affairs at TANY, and I think we had a very interesting and enlightening discussion on issues in trucking specific to the state of New York, and more specifically, issues facing carriers having to deal with climate zealots and the mandates which plague all of our equipment. My listeners will thoroughly enjoy hearing about the higher level discussions which go on in attempting to mitigate the effects of such mandates; Mark and Zach go into great length on the details. We also discuss issues peculiar to operating in New York City, such as managing traffic flows, or at least trying to, hauling trash out of the city, and the delicate dance of co-operating with everyone else on the roads of the Big Apple.Later in the show, we touch on Mark’s gig at a Volvo dealer not far from me, and some of the peculiarities of their equipment, and its seeming preparation for autonomous operations.Mark and Zach are great and you should follow them on LinkedIn -https://www.linkedin.com/in/zach-miller-356a7813/https://www.linkedin.com/in/markstone54ab/TANY website - https://nytrucks.org/As mentioned in the intro and near the end of the show, I was recently invited to give a presentation on my book and issues facing the American trucker in 2026 at the hallowed halls of Cornell University. It was recorded for your benefit, check it out -https://law-cornell.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=3efee1ae-5175-460a-b123-b43a00e31c5aIf you haven’t yet, you can pick up a copy of my book directly from my publishers at Creed and Culture, in hardcover, e-reader, or audiobook format -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/As always, you can get a hold of me with questions, comments, suggestions, corrections and Hate Mail here - gordilocks@protonmail.com
Voice Of GO(r)D is proud to bring you a conversation with Mr Stephen Ruhe, logistician and scion of an Ohio trucking family and also the proprietor of a new historical documentary project called Semi Historic, which seeks to examine the early history of the trucking industry in America and find lessons applicable today.https://www.semihistoric.com/From the website -”Semi-Historic is my love letter to the truckers and the legends who built America’s supply chain. As the third-generation of a family trucking company, I am creating this archive to finally give our industry the rich history and respect it deserves.”Stephen gives us an overview of what he hopes to achieve with the project, as well as a few anecdotes from his look into the history of trucking in America, which takes us from its birth in Ohio to the intersection of migration, the prohibition era, the Motor Carrier Act of 1935, and onwards to today, where we find that there is indeed nothing new under the sun. Loopholes and shenanigans derived from the difference between public and private carriers are also highlighted. You can find Stephen on Twitter/X - https://x.com/StephenRuheAs mentioned in the intro, I’ve been busy as of late with various interviews and presentations regards my own examination of the recent history of trucking. My description of a silent war on the truckers who drive the industry has resonated with more than a few people, and I was asked to join C-Span, and give a presentation at Cornell University here in my new home town of Ithaca, NY.https://www.c-span.org/program/washington-journal/gord-magill-on-end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/677222https://law-cornell.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=3efee1ae-5175-460a-b123-b43a00e31c5aFriend of this podcast and FreightWaves CEO Craig Fuller was recently invited to write an Op-Ed for the New York Times, and boy does it ever said like a compressed version of what I have been saying for years.https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/24/opinion/trucking-safety.htmlIf you haven’t yet, you can order a hardcover, e-reader, or audio version of my book, End of The Road - Inside The War on Truckers from my publishers at Creed and Culture -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/Thanks for listening, and as always, questions, comments, suggestions, corrections and Hate Mail are welcomed and encouraged - gordilocks@protonmail.com
The Voice Of GO(r)D podcast is happy to bring you a discussion with an old head in the world of truckin’ podcasts, Mr Bruce Outridge, the empresario behind The Lead Pedal Podcast and a visual artist that works close to his subjects. Bruce has been involved in the trucking industry in some capacity for decades, starting out as a ‘Bed Bug’ hauler and eventually moving on to hauling other freight. He is now a highly sought after commentator on the industry back home in Canada, and has been running the Lead Pedal since 2015. He has had me on his show numerous times, and I decided to return the favor (finally) with an invite to discuss something he has mentioned in his newsletter quite often as of late, the ‘passion’ required to respect and fix up the industry. We are co-releasing this discussion on both of our platforms, and if you haven’t yet, you should subscribe to Bruce’s podcast and his newsletter. The man is a wealth of great information for drivers, owner-operators, and anyone else involved in the industry, and has been a great ambassador for it.You can find Bruce in the above highlighted links or subscribe here to his YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@leadpedalThe Lead Pedal is also on Twitter - https://x.com/theleadpedalInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/leadpedalpodcast/Facecrack - https://www.facebook.com/theleadpedalpodcastMy new book on the fate of the North American Trucker, End of The Road - Inside The War on Truckers, drops on March 24; if you haven’t yet, you ought to place your order -In the United States -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/Canada -https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/9781967613021.htmlIf you are an Amazon enthusiast and order it there, make sure to go back and give it a review and rating once you’ve read it -https://www.amazon.com/End-Road-Inside-War-Truckers/dp/1967613028As always, questions, comments, suggestion, corrections or Hate Mail, can be sent my way here -gordilocks@protonmail.com
The Voice Of GO(r)D podcast is very happy to bring you a great history lesson which addresses the question of what a Canadian is, given the destruction of Canadian identity we see after decades of caustic acid poured on the country by the Trudeau Dynasty and their ‘Post Nationalist State’ nonsense.Lance Audette is a multi generational cattle rancher and can trace the history of his own family as far back as 1663, who eventually moved from Québec to Saskatchewan, and has connections to the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The man is as Canadian as it gets, and you want to hear his oral history as delivered to me.You can find Lance on Twitter - https://x.com/LaserAudWe mention our online colleague Fortissax; this is a great essay by him about French history in Canada. Fortissax often discusses Le Filles du Roi, of whom Lance is also a direct descendant.https://fortissax.substack.com/p/what-canada-can-learn-from-quebecFor my American and international listeners who might not know why there appears to be so much discontent in Canada at the moment, another writer here on Substack whom I am a big fan of, John Carter, gives us a status update on the joint.https://barsoom.substack.com/p/the-state-of-canadaIn the show we also reference this interview between Candace Malcolm and Daniel Tyrie, the maestro of the Dominion Society of Canada -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcb_wRy_5xMLance and I also discussed the Humboldt Tragedy, which looms large as a turning point in recent Canadian history and politics. Just this past weekend, former guest of this show Mocha Bezirgan, The Last Journalist in Canada, released a truly infuriating and deeply moving interview with Chris Joseph, the father of one of the boys killed in that completely unnecessary collision. Mr Joseph tells us how the media have been twisting and omitting the words of many families who have suffered great loss from this incident, and how the government campaign to keep Jaskirat Singh Sidhu in Canada is an affront to the entire country, misses out on what a contemptible figure Mr Sidhu is, and will remove any accountability from the trucking industry when the next tragedy like this takes place. And there will be more, especially from the folks sent here by Narendra Modi for his Profit through Emigration program. Please watch Mocha’s interview here -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKjkFW84SXAAs always, thanks for listening, pass this around to interested parties, especially any friends or family members still caught under the spell of the CBC, and if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, corrections or Hate Mail, send them directly -gordilocks@protonmail.comIf you haven’t already, please check out my book and consider ordering yourself a copy here -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/Listeners in Canada should order it at Indigo and avoid the expense and hassle of my publisher having to deal with Canada Customs.https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/9781967613021.htmlOutside of North America, consult with your local book store until I find out more about international distribution from my publisher.
Voice Of GO(r)D welcomes back to the show Mr Rob Carpenter, trucker, consultant, software developer, expert witness, and industry researcher and reporter, amongst so many other hats he wears.A question I am often asked by friends and followers is “How do these small companies employing people with no experience and no training in the trucking industry get insurance?” Rob has delved into that question, and has written a series of articles for his own Substack, The Tea , as well as on Twitter/X, and over at FreightWaves, and joins the show to tell us what is going on here. His work is so deep and detailed and explains so much of what is going on that he has had several meetings with FMCSA head Derek Barrs and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. The first of a seven part series by Rob looking into the insurance side of the equation can be read at FreightWaves, and they are all worth your time.https://www.freightwaves.com/news/the-dumping-ground-insuring-americas-most-dangerous-truckers-no-questions-askedRob’s writings have been so revealing about the dysfunction in the insurance market that various entities have asked FreightWaves to take his articles down.Clearly he is over some targets.https://x.com/Thewhitesmoke/status/2025184999821971527Rob has also written extensively on the utter lack of accountability enforcement throughout all levels of regulation in the business, including the fact that those who have murdered others by truck are still out their in business on our highways.https://www.freightwaves.com/news/the-driver-involved-in-the-10-fatality-alabama-crash-is-back-in-business-and-still-crashingAnd for those of you into other types of Murder, or Murder Mysteries, if you will, Rob has written about FBI investigations into serial killers who happen to have CDLs.https://x.com/Thewhitesmoke/status/2013764452244455806I reference some of Rob’s voluminous output in my book coming out on March 24, which I am told by my publisher has already sold over 1000 copies on pre-order.Secure your copy today! In The US, you can order it directly from my publisher, Creed and Culture -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/In Canada, you can pre-order from Chapters/Indigohttps://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/9781967613021.htmlAnd if you must order from Amazon, make sure you go back and leave a review for me there after you read it; that greatly helps with the algorithm.https://www.amazon.com/End-Road-Inside-War-Truckers/dp/1967613028/Thanks for listening, and please share with someone you know who might be a trucker or involved with the industry - word of mouth is the best advertising, especially for a one man show podcast project that generates zero dollars.Questions, comments, suggestions, corrections and Hate Mail are welcomed and strongly encouraged - gordilocks@protonmail.com
Voice Of GO(r)D is delighted to bring you a conversation with one of those personalities you find out on the road (or online) that sticks out by telling things like they are, and pulling no punches in describing the reality we live in. One such personality is Axel, a fellow trucker who goes by the handle ‘Financial Physics’ who offers commentary from the cab on the realities of economics, the hypocrisy of ideological partisans and government agents, and much else besides. In our conversation we go from his other career as an electrical generator installer and technician through all of the chicanery that animates our economy and the regulatory environment which obscures it all, and to the tragic (to me) sale of his Peterbilt and hanging up of his keys. You can find Axel on Twitter - https://x.com/FinancialPhysAnd on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@financialphysics7541My book, End Of The Road - Inside The War on Truckers is less than a month from publication and it has already sold over a thousand copies on pre-order.Secure your copy today, or come and see me in person at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, March 26-28.In the US you can pre-order direct from my publisher -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/In Canada at Chapters/Indigo -https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/9781967613021.htmlAnd if you must -https://www.amazon.com/End-Road-Inside-War-Truckers/dp/1967613028/As always, questions, comments, suggestions, corrections and Hate Mail are welcomed and strongly encouraged - gordilocks@protonmail.com
For the first show of 2026 and the fourth season of the Voice Of GO(r)D podcast project, I am very happy to bring you a discussion with Ike Stephens, the empresario behind the highly successful and very popular YouTube show, Bonehead Truckers.Ike has been documenting the decline of the American trucking industry via his hilarious and well done commentary videos, which highlight what happens when The Powers That Be take a trade which requires high levels of competency and operational acumen, and attempt to deskill it by flooding the market with hapless locals from the unemployment line, or with insourced labor that is likewise clueless. As of late, Ike has been pulling no punches with calling out everyone involved in allowing this sad state of affairs to take place. You can find Mr Stephens all over the place -https://www.youtube.com/@BoneheadTruckershttps://x.com/boneheadtruckrshttps://www.facebook.com/boneheadtruckershttps://www.instagram.com/boneheadtruckers/And if you will be at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky next month, March 26-28, you can come meet Ike in person - and I might even be at his exhibition location with copies of my book for sale.Speaking of the book - we are less than 6 weeks out from release, and my book is already doing numbers in various Amazon book categories. As of right now, End Of The Road was number ONE in Canadian Politics, number 13 in Libertarianism, and number ONE in Transportation Industry. The first two are curious, given that Canadian Politics only figure in the intro and final chapters, and I use the term ‘libertarian’ but a small handful of times; the politics that comes through my arguments are all over the place - libertarian, conservative, labor left, populist … I like to think the book’s politics defy categorization. And on that note, go ahead and pre-order for delivery to your door on March 24, or come meet me at MATS, where I will sign a copy for you, and you can pay cash for a steep discount. The audiobook will be available by then, and I will have a QR code handy for those who want to download it to their devices instantly. In the US you can order a hardcover copy direct from my publisher -https://creedandculture.com/books/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/In Canada you can do the same from Chapters/Indigo -https://www.indigo.ca/en-ca/end-of-the-road-inside-the-war-on-truckers/9781967613021.htmlIf you must -https://www.amazon.com/End-Road-Inside-War-Truckers/dp/1967613028/Thanks again for listening and making my podcast what it is, and thanks again for reading my work here. Check out my latest piece, which is now approaching four thousand reads here on Substack -https://autonomoustruckers.substack.com/p/truckers-tikka-masala-part-2-theAs always, questions, comments, suggestions, corrections and Hate Mail are welcomed and strongly encouraged - gordilocks@protonmail.com
