Christa Pike Part 2: The Childhood Horrors & Early Warning Signs | S6 E37Before Christa Pike became one of Tennessee’s most notorious female killers, she was a child surrounded by instability, addiction, neglect, and allegations of horrific abuse. But how much of her troubled childhood would ultimately shape the woman she became? In Part 2 of our multi-part Christa Pike investigation, True Crime & Wine Time takes a deeper look into the disturbing family history and early experiences that preceded her crimes. From her parents' broken marriage and a troubling childhood medical diagnosis to allegations of abuse by the very adults entrusted with protecting her, we examine a childhood marked by turmoil. As Christa moved between unstable homes and troubled caregivers, warning signs began to surface. Her behavior grew increasingly concerning, her struggles in school intensified, and the stark differences between Christa and her older sister raised difficult questions about the environment in which they were raised. We also explore the medical evidence later introduced in Christa's case and the complicated relationship between childhood trauma, behavioral problems, and personal responsibility. How did so many warning signs go unaddressed? Could intervention have changed the course of Christa's life? And where do we draw the line between understanding someone's past and holding them accountable for their actions? This episode is not about excusing Christa Pike's horrific crimes. It's about examining the childhood behind the headlines, the adults who shaped her earliest years, and the troubling history that came long before the murder that would make her infamous.#ChristaPike #ChristaPikeCase #TrueCrimeAndWineTime #TCWT #TrueCrimePodcast #TrueCrimeDeepDive #ChildhoodTrauma #CriminalPsychology #TennesseeTrueCrime #WomenWhoKillBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/true-crime-and-wine-time--5796058/support.This episode includes AI-generated content.
At just 18 years old, Christa Gail Pike committed a crime so brutal it would eventually make her the youngest woman sentenced to death in Tennessee in the modern era.But the story of Christa Pike didn’t begin with murder. In **Part One of our multi-part deep dive**, True Crime & Wine Time goes back generations to uncover the family history that shaped Christa long before she became one of America’s most notorious female killers. We’re tracing a disturbing legacy of *mental illness, addiction, domestic violence, abuse, neglect, and generational trauma* through both sides of Christa’s family—and examining the chaotic circumstances surrounding her birth and earliest years.Born premature and critically ill, Christa entered a world already consumed by alcoholism, instability, violence, and emotional abandonment. As the adults around her continued their own cycles of trauma and addiction, one question begins to loom over her story:*Was Christa Pike born a monster—or was she created by the people and circumstances that surrounded her?*Timestamps0:00 – Christa Pike: The Story Behind the Crime1:27 – Welcome to True Crime and Wine Time2:05 – Show Updates, Announcements & Community Chat4:37 – Introducing the Christa Pike Case: Part One8:04 – Generations of Trauma, Violence & Family Dysfunction9:35 – A Troubled Family History: Zola and Her Father11:22 – A Family Legacy of Abuse and Mental Illness12:23 – Christa’s Mother, Cararissa, and Her Troubled Childhood13:39 – Addiction, Hallucinations & Violence in the Family Home15:29 – A Federal Courtroom Confrontation17:00 – Aunt Norma: Abuse Behind Closed Doors18:41 – How Violence Became Normalized in the Family19:55 – Cararissa and Carrie’s Teenage Years21:05 – Cararissa’s Search for Escape23:04 – Nursing School, Alcoholism & A Double Life24:02 – Glenn Pike’s Childhood and Early Hardships26:02 – Glenn’s Military Service, Injuries & Trauma27:05 – Agent Orange and the Lasting Effects of War28:00 – Glenn Returns Home After Vietnam29:10 – Glenn and Cararissa: A Relationship Fueled by Alcohol30:00 – Two Troubled Family Histories Collide31:08 – Christa’s Birth: An Unwelcome Beginning32:00 – Prenatal Alcohol Exposure and Brain Development33:06 – A Medical Crisis at Birth34:08 – Christa’s Fight for Survival35:02 – The Lasting Impact of Early Trauma36:02 – The Consequences of Christa’s Difficult Birth36:45 – Cararissa’s Depression and Suicide Attempt37:38 – The Importance of Secure Attachment39:05 – Neglect, Addiction & Christa’s First Year41:20 – Growing Up in a Filthy and Neglectful Home42:15 – Grandmother Zola’s Favoritism and Abuse43:47 – Delpha Pike: Christa’s One Source of Comfort44:50 – The Only Person Who Tried to Protect Christa45:58 – The Lasting Damage of Childhood Abuse46:36 – Next Time: Christa Pike’s Childhood Nightmare Continues47:20 – Final Thoughts, Social Media & Supporting the Show48:04 – Thank You for Watching True Crime and Wine Time⚠️ *CONTENT WARNING:* This episode discusses child abuse, domestic violence, addiction, mental illness, suicide, neglect, and other disturbing subject matter.Sources and Attribution: The information and photos presented in this video is gathered from a variety of public sources, including news outlets, interviews, court records, social media groups related to the case, and segments from various news channels.
