He was apart of some of several high profile missions from the recovery of Red Wings to an attempted rescue of Bowe Bergdahl where he was shot and received a Purple Heart. Since retiring, he instructs at Yale University and helps tactical K9's throughout the country with his foundation, Spikes K9 Fund
