Ep 55: Allie Sczech: Life Under the Nebraska Spotlight and Behind the Mic

Why choose between lighting up the floor from the right pin or breaking down rotations on live national television when you can just do both at the exact same time? In this episode of the Side Out Society Podcast, Tiff and Lindsay sit down with Big Ten champion, pro opposite, and rising Big Ten Network match analyst Allie Sczech to dive into her whirlwind transition from elite collegiate hitter to the broadcast booth. Allie pulls back the curtain on the untold stories of her career, from the closed-fist serve that kept her from quitting the sport at age 12, to growing up on the same neighborhood block as fellow lefty opposite Logan Lednicky. She gets brutally honest about the reality of stepping into the Nebraska volleyball fishbowl, revealing the suffocating pressure of an undefeated set streak and the moment online noise got so intense that a teammate had to literally lock down her social media passwords. Now calling games on air, Allie teases what it’s actually like trying to stay neutral when broadcasting matches for her former Husker teammates, including the internal panic of slipping into nicknames and accidentally botching their last names on live TV. Plus, she shares the three-rule mental checklist that keeps her grounded on the mic and the excitement of reuniting with best friend Taylor Landfair on the NorCal Rumble Follow us on social media: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@sideoutsociety Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sideoutsociety
