Episode 111: Bound For Trouble

Ash and friends are on their way through the Orange Islands when Team Rocket’s latest Pikachu kidnapping plan goes completely off the rails in “Bound for Trouble.” After Pikachu is snatched away, Meowth ends up chained to him, and the two enemies are carried off to a remote island by a giant Pidgeot. What follows is one of the strangest and funniest setups in the Pokémon anime, as Pikachu and Meowth are forced to work together just to survive. This episode takes a classic Team Rocket scheme and turns it into a wild survival story full of chaos, arguing, and unexpected character moments.The real hook of Bound for Trouble is watching Pikachu and Meowth slowly shift from enemies to reluctant partners. Whether they are trying to escape danger, avoid being crushed by a giant Rhydon, or just figure out how to move while handcuffed together, the episode gets a ton of mileage out of their back-and-forth. At the same time, Ash is in full panic mode trying to find Pikachu, which gives the episode some real energy underneath all the comedy.
