THE CURSE OF YIG is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft and Zealia Bishop in which Yig, "The Father of Serpents", is first introduced. Set in Oklahoma around 1889, a newly arrived couple become aware of a chilling local legend: a vengeful “Snake God” known as Yig, who punishes those who harm serpents—either by killing them outright or transforming them into grotesque, half-snake beings.
