"Garden Of Love" is a classic Boom Bap banger - hard hitting, dusty drums plus layers and layers of sample chops. Inspired by the original protagonists of the era - A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Pete Rock, Main Source, Artifacts... (too many to mention) and the Jazz they inherited in their production, "Garden Of Love" os an ode to the city of NY, NY and their sound and vibe of the 90s.
The 3rd single from the intern’s LP “Yellow Cabs” goes so hard! This tribute to the Boom Bap sound of the 90’s features legendary NAMM BattleRoyal World Champ ‘25 DJ Robert Smith on the cuts. A Jazz record from the dollar bin sparked the idea, and our studio session soon after - pure dope. We’re keepin’ it real with “Word Is Bond”, a homage to the golden era of Hip Hop and its protagonists - ATCQ, De La Sou, Main Source etc. Playlist Suggestions: Boombap Relax, Mellow Beats, Boombap Focus
Diggin' the greats: ATCQ, GangStarr, Lord Finesse, Main Source, Pete Rock. The list goes on. The 2nd single from the intern’s upcoming LP was born from a true studio session at the intern’s. Schwarme jamming on keys, Hanses on E-bass, intern on the drum machine. Recreating that golden era sound from 90’s East Coast Hip Hop. A homage to an era and the city of NY. Boom Bap to the bone.
What’s good everyone?! I am very happy to announce the first song from my upcoming album. “What We’re Here 4” was born during a session w/ the man, the myth, the legend Kalla, and when dédé heard the tune, he knew exactly what he’d add to get the seasoning juuuuuuust right. Homage type ish, to the aesthetic and sound of a place and an era. Original photo taken in the 90’s (~’97) by my uncle, Arno Kugler. There are tons of these pics, and they will visually accompany the rollout of my album. More of these coming soon.
Woohoo, the winter hiatus is officially over. Spring's here, and even summer is knocking on our doors. "Silhouette" with the incredibly talented up & coming singer Alisha Sade is the first of many releases to come this year. There will be new songs almost every Friday for the foreseeable future. This tune was born during a session with co-producer and genre-fluid powerhouse freesi. When Alisha heard the joint, it was go-time, immediately. Her smooth voice & appa1tiøn's dreamy saxophone harmonize so well over this bouncy, yet chill hip-hop laden R&B tune. Perfect match. Prod. by the intern & freesi, vocals written & performed by Alisha Sade. Additional Saxophone by appar1tiøn. Mixed & Mastered by the intern
New track just dropped & we feel like a GUCCI ADLIB, burrr 🐲 🐲 🐲 Lo-fi groove meets disco bounce – made by Nobody’s Face, READY & the intern Turn it up. Save it. Share it. Love it. Dance it. Support it.
1st ever collab tune by Phil Tyler and the intern. We first met at one of Figub Brazlevics' infamous birthday celebrations and immediately knew we'd vibe together. Sure enought, we've since started working on a whole bunch of tracks together, so this is the first of many to come. We're super excited this has finally dropped. Enjoy & much love, Phil and intern.
before the noise my cousin is the debut album from experimental musician & artist Otis Mensah entirely produced by the intern following a longstanding Berlin-centred collaboration. Exploring notions of youth, its transience and malaise, ‘before the noise’ grapples for a deeper sense of kinship and home as it journeys artistic-tribulation and coming-of-age with dreamlike sonics and daring abstract-rap cadence. The album began inception over a six-year stretch during Otis’ time touring across Europe, sleeping on the intern’s dusty studio floor and crafts sleepless quarrel, wrestling on the line where desire for validation and recognition meets and contorts with the aesthetic and occupational pursuit of creative practice. The album therefore holds a disillusionment with the industry of performance under the brutalisation of capitalism but finds renewal, resolve and pride in a poetic will to express freely and vulnerably. The album features incredible verses from legendary emcees Blu, Speech of Arrested Development and Lando Chill.
