Episode Description from the Publisher

Comedian Alison Thea-Scott and writer Fraser Millward join Katie for some spicy chat and fun. It’s all about creative life versus real life, innit. In this episode, Katie, Ali and Fraser cover everything from Jon Bon Jovi to wearing cardboard on your head, antique jukebox machines and playwriting. And how do you justify a career in comedy to your parents? It’s all here. 3:07 to kick start the fun, Alison and Fraser compete for a Mexican wave in a nice little quiz. Once again, dogs are a strong theme, as well as a disturbing anecdote about canine theft. 10:56 Fraser celebrates his completion of a play to be on later this year… and the dark reality of writing which is funded by a job selling jukebox machines at an exhibition centre. We all rush out to purchase one. 13:00 The guys chat about combining a life of comedy with earning money, multiple income sources and answering to a worried Mum and Dad. 15:09 Ali shares another alarming story about her worrisome birth and subsequent lifestyle dressed as a Lucozade bottle on stage and Katie points out the up-side of using Mummy Pritchard as a human calendar. 17:29 "Thea-Skot through the Heart and you’re to Blame"is the Bon-Jovi inspired Edinburgh Fringe show that Alison’s developing. She reminisces about her past as bat-Cher how one of her improvised costumes inspired a Primark fashion trend. "Comfort in carnage" 20:24 Fraser’s done character shows and performance before, but has just written his first comedy play. He tells Katie how this was inspired by his time working in a Santa’s Grotto one Christmas. It’s going to be on this Christmas under the working title of “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year”… which is somewhat ironic, as it follows the dysfunctional staff and their lives. 22:02 Fraser and Ali tell how they met in 2005 and it propelled them forwards in their comedy careers and Fraser talks about the struggle of learning how to make people laugh with your writing. 23:55 Ali and Fraser talk about the difference between developing a comic character and voice. 25:18 Ali Fraser and Katie perform Declan Kennedy’s open submission “Sci-Fi Parody” for a trip into outer space. There are big words, delivered elegantly.
