Meta settled the state lawsuits over teen harm for $12.6 billion, spread across ten years. Its outside lawyers get roughly $10 billion. On a present-value basis, the law firms collect more than the states do. A month earlier, the states behind the case sought permission to ask a jury for $1.4 trillion in damages. The final deal admits no wrongdoing, keeps Mark Zuckerberg off the witness stand, and sunsets its safety commitments after five years. Florida refused to sign.
