Episode Description from the Publisher

This week we are discussing the 1956 Movie Musical The King and I starring Yule Brenner and Deborah Kerr. Costumes are designed by Irene Sharaff, who Coleen has dubbed the queen of musicals. She won the Tony and the Oscar for her King and I designs. We also discuss the costumes in the collection which are actually for two dancers in the Uncle Tom's Cabin (or Small House of Uncle Thomas) tribute ballet scene. Lots to discuss here, and lots of things we hope you will dive deeper into after listening. You can see more images of this costume at costumesofhollywood.comFor more info and updates, follow us on Instagram @costumesofhollywoodYou can buy The Costumes of Hollywood book at Routledge, Taylor & Francis, or most places books are sold online.Original theme song composed and arranged by James Scott and Vincent Ju.
