S5 E2 - You’re the Most Expensive Integration in Your Business

Episode Description from the Publisher

Entrepreneurs are very good at accumulating software. You needed a scheduler, so you got Calendly. Then an email platform. Then something for courses, contracts, accounting, content, AI, podcasting, automation, cloud storage…and suddenly there is $300, $500, or $700 disappearing from your account every month. The bigger problem, though, is not necessarily how many tools you are paying for. It is whether those tools are actually doing a job.In this episode of Chaos to Clarity, I’m walking you through the same technology audit I use in my own business. We’re looking at what you pay for, what each tool is supposed to accomplish, where you may be paying for duplicate functionality, and whether your tech is actually reducing the amount of work you have to do.Because having technology is not the same thing as having systems. You can have twelve powerful tools and still spend your day copying information between platforms, manually sending reminders, searching for client information, remembering who needs follow-up, and trying to keep the whole business connected in your head. And when that happens, you become the integration. We also get into one of the most overlooked parts of business systems: following the actual human journey instead of looking at each piece of software individually. What happens when someone first finds you? What happens when they download something, book a call, become a client, finish working with you, or are ready for another offer?Your tech stack should support that journey instead of requiring you to remember every step.In this episode, you’ll learn:Why having technology and having systems are two very different things. The four jobs Maggie believes business technology should perform. How to create a simple spreadsheet audit of every subscription in your business. How to identify duplicate tools without assuming consolidation is always the answer. Why specialized software can still earn its place in your business. How to “follow the human” through your client journey and identify missing steps. How your technology creates invisible mental load when systems depend on you remembering what happens next. The simple removal test you can use before deciding whether to keep or cancel a tool. The goal is not to cram your entire business into one platform or rebuild everything this weekend. The better question is: Can you justify every tool you are paying for?And if the answer is no, this week is a good time to simplify one thing.Links:All Links: https://maggielynnolson.com/biolinkClient Momentum Freebie: https://go.maggielynnolson.com/momentum26 Sign up for Riverside: https://riverside.sjv.io/en1Qyz This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy
