This week the w*rker jih*dis are talking kkkaos in Ausstralia and Amerikkka, from RBA class war to the Shoebridge Program, to the Nation of Juggaloes, to the Trump Ass Patrol and competence nostalgia, to Anakin/Malfoid lore and back to Latham Undone. Ep recorded before midterms, photo confected thereafter. Thanks as always to “Demokkkrat” Dan Dare for production.Song is No Strain by the Southend RainbowsSubscribe to yeah nah review and straying for the morsel.
This week the r*thless two are chatting with music and film writer Anwen Crawford about her book on the 2002 film Morvern Callar by Lynne Ramsay. They talk about the cinema of the early 21st century, the false promises of “classless” British culture, the utopian impulse of raves, and the film itself, before moving to more familiar territory of activist memory and security culture in the Australian Left. Anwen also explains her idea of “lyric realism” to define films like this. You can get her book from Decadent editions, and see her reading at At Large on November 26 at Sean and Dollys.
Mrs Timwintoncellectuals is back from his nuptial bliss and straight back into the guts of the kulturkampf as he and Pat walk through the wasteland of the last couple of weeks. From the Jordon Steele-John allegations, to endemic abuse and misogyny in politics right and left, to rising violence, to the absolutely cactus machinery of diagnosis that our media and political class use to make sense of all of this, the l*ds are at full throttle. Also, the French are copying Cronulla, the great revolution of the 21st century, Professor X is using mutants as cheap labour, and Australians are losing their minds because Pat has told them to stop reading children’s books. As always, you are at the coalface with the B*ttlers, fighting a rearguard action against the forces of cultural Paulinification and the fight for the right to be idiots. Sorry we’re late this week; Tim promises never to get married again. Thanks as always to Dan “The Directorate” Dare for production. Song is No Strain by the Southend Rainbows. (Simon is launching the book on the 29th of October at Planet Books, Mt Lawley, for any Perh Battlers interested). Thanks as always to Dan 'Da Man' Dare for producing this little beauty. This week the Y*ppie D*gs are talking to Mitch L. Ryan, musician, author, record seller and author of a new book on Dick Diver’s Calendar Days, the seminal album. They chat dolewave, post-Howard political culture, the death of the music industry and the flowering of criticism in the 2010s blogosphere. Beforehand, the l*ds talk about the NRL Grand Final, Shoebridge’s worker Jihad, white Isis, brother Chun’s Nation of Islam, Bogan haram and other important stuff.
This week the D*sgraced S*nators talk to their first repeat-guest, the perennial Max Easton. Max brought out his new novel, Now, Autonomy, a couple of months ago, and he’s on to chat the Sydney scenes (DIY, Music, Literature, Politics); writing the present; literature as questions rather than answers; and looking abroad for hope. As always, it’s a an absolute circle pit (good) of a chat. Before that, the p*trid d*gs chat the fallout from the Dockercide, with Pat going Gonzo (crying) on the streets of Freo. They also talk about other losers, like Bibi at the UN and Albo’s AI (valorization) crusade.Produced by "Dictator" Dan Dare.
This week Chopper and The Dodge are up Wolf Creek without a Matt Canavan rowing paddle; Chatting One Nation race science; baby pig punting; beef week; woke Milat for miscegenation; Dockerdom; failures of policing DV, croc olympics and the unbearable “who?”ness of Sheeran. Thanks as always to Herr Diktator Dan Dare for production and for dealing with us.Subscribe: thebattler.net Straying for the Morsel and the Yeah Nah ReviewSong is No Strain by the Southend Rainbows.
