Three Models of American Identity | 9/16/26

Many Americans have heard the "melting pot" analogy used to explain the nature of our country's identity, but they don't know that term is relatively new. For most of the nation's history, the "Anglo-assimilation model" was considered the standard. Immigrants could come from all over Europe, but they were expected to conform to a predominantly British culture.
