Getting Pulled Back in with Blackwolf John Oates and Peter C. Hine (3xtC)

This week, it's another edition of Third Time's the Charm (3xtc) covering the regrettable conclusion to the epic film saga of The Godfather. Blackwolf John Oates and Vayse co-host Peter C. Hine return to the show, getting "pulled back in" as it were, to pick apart the 1990 return to the world of organized crime centered around the Corleone family with AP. As tends to happen with these episodes, the prior movies are discussed as well which, in this case especially, does no favors to the sequel in question. The conversation around Godfather Part 3 (or is it Godfather: Coda?) quickly becomes a raucous good time, with plenty of opportunities for joking around tempered by a genuine affection for the cinematic world Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola brought to the screen. Blackwolf, Hine, and AP dig into some of the baffling choices that were made for this later sequel, as well as ones that could have been with proposed actors and directors that didn't pan out. The discussion covers Al Pacino's transformation into a caricature, kissing cousins, donkey noises, and more... covering The Godfather as a series of films could be an entire podcast on its own, and in this show every effort was made to at least save listeners the trouble of actually watching the third one. This episode also gets into organized crime more broadly, Vatican banking scandals which partly inspired the story of the film, and the importance of paying Robert Duvall.
