Dr. Nancy McLaughlin-Walter never expected that she would end up studying consciousness. She never thought she’d find herself co-director of research at the now quasi-famous Monroe Institute located in the beautiful Shenandoah mountains of Virginia. But, as more than one of my podcast guests have stated, Monroe has a way of finding you. In this episode, Nancy brings us through an array of spiritual experiences she has had throughout her life. Nancy’s Bio: Nancy McLaughlin-Walter, Ph.D., is a research psychologist and Co-Director of the Research Division at the Monroe Institute, where she leads investigations into the neural correlates of consciousness, human energetic phenomena, and the neural effects of audio-assisted meditation technology. Her work bridges scientific inquiry with experiential research, focusing on the measurable impacts of altered states of consciousness induced by brain entrainment audio technologies. Dr. McLaughlin-Walter is particularly interested in exploring the mechanisms underlying out-of-body experiences, psychic-mediumship, and expanded human perception, with a goal of advancing integrative models of consciousness and human potential. She is currently authoring two books—one for a popular audience exploring psychological and social dimensions of identity and transformation, and another that documents extraordinary experiences of Monroe Institute participants.
