Five truths standout about Jesus: I. It means that God was fulfilling prophecy before their eyes. Acts 2:16–18 — " 16 but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams; 18 Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy.” A. Prophecy with universal translation was evidence of the initial pouring of the Holy Spirit. 1. The audience understood what was being said. v.11 “we hear them in our own tongues” B. This was the sign of prophecy. 1. Prophecy Defined –v11 “speaking of the mighty deeds of God” a. They were declaring divine truth under the power and utterance of the Holy Spirit. II. It means that the Glorious Day of Lord is fast approaching. A. The Lord’s Glory will come with even greater signs. Acts 2:19–21 — " 19 ‘And I will grant wonders in the sky above And signs on the earth below, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 ‘The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.” B. Salvation will require trusting on the Name of the Lord. Acts 2:21 “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” 1. How does one call on the name of the LORD? We believe the mighty deeds of God. III. It means that Jesus of Nazareth is the LORD of our salvation. A. What is the proof? 1. He was attested by God through miracles. Acts 2:22 — “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—” 2. He was put to death by godless men. Acts 2:23 — " this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.” 3. He was raised to life by God’s power. Acts 2:24 — "But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” a. Resurrection was the prophetic requirement for the Son of God (v25-28). b. Jesus’ resurrection was verified by the eye witness that stood before them (v32). IV. It means Jesus Himself sent the Holy Spirit from the right hand of the Father. Acts 2:33 —“Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” V. It means that Jesus is Lord and Messiah of our salvation. Acts 2:36 — " 36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”” THINK, PRAY AND OBEY:   https://www.sunnysidebaptist.us/
