EPISODE 354: We learn more about Abe Sapien's former life as Langdon Everett Caul in BPRD Volume 7 - Garden of Souls! We also talk a ton about BPRD in general! EPISODE 353 - The Milksops continue their coverage of the Hellboy universe with their first big look at the spin-off series "B.P.R.D." We start with trade paper back volume 6, which is the arc called "The Universal Machine." "B.P.R.D." stands for Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense, which was Hellboy's employer until he quit at the end of his "Conqueror Worm" story. Now we see the gang without Hellboy. As Kevin says, the Hellboy stories feel like movies, and B.P.R.D. is like a television show. Although there is a plot which evolves, it feels more episodic. And although the stakes are as high as possible (destruction of all humanity seems perpetually JUST ABOUT TO HAPPEN) - the tone feels lighter, too. We learn a lot about Abe Sapien, Johann Krauss, and other members of the Bureau. We see the story get handed off from universe creator Mike Mignolia to John Arcudy and Guy Davis and others. Loose Screws: Kevin talks about Shrinking and other shows he watched, and Will discusses how he established his Canadian citizenship. ------------------- Email us at screwitcomics@gmail.com Subscribe for bonus episodes and to support the show at screwitpodcasts.com
EPISODE 352 - We go over what amounts to the end of Act I of Hellboy comics - Conqueror Worm. In this four issue story, Hellboy and Roger the Homonculous go up against a big 'ol Elder Monster who is hell bent on gobbling up the whole world! We've go Nazi heads in jars, a big steampunk ape, talking skeletons and of course a collapsing floor! This is a great one! ------------------- Email us at screwitcomics@gmail.com Subscribe for bonus episodes and to support the show at screwitpodcasts.com
