How do you become a stand-up comedian? How do you book a gig? How do you write a joke? All this and more is what I would write if I cared about self-promotion. Advertising is the devil. On 6th November 2024 I decided to start telling jokes on stage to people. Within 6 months I'd gone from walk-in spots at pubs to the final of a competition, having my jokes played on the BBC and doing a half-hour show at a comedy festival. Now, two years in, I get paid middles and have done 45-minute solo shows at festivals. I've always wondered how industries work behind the scenes and I try to lay out who, how, and where I got my gigs and then how each of them went.

Terrible venue name, irritating audience members and I swear in this episode. Scandalous. This was a last minute gig that was offered to me on the day. This was a pro gig, for once. Everyone on the lineup was paid, and I got £50 for a ten minute spot. Not the easiest room I've had, but they were alright. Also, I'm driving in my car for this one.To keep up to date with Robert Duck, you can follow the Instagram @robertduckcomedy or subscribe to the Patreon for £1 per month. Hosted on Acast. I did another charity night, this time in Witney. I should probably type longer descriptions for episodes, but usually I do them on my phone so it is fiddly. Today, I am on my laptop, so I can write something longer. Shame it's not relevant to the episode. To keep up to date with Robert Duck, you can follow the Instagram @robertduckcomedy or subscribe to the Patreon for £1 per month. Hosted on Acast.
