The incident added another layer of tension to an already politically charged night where media elites, politicians, and critics all gather under one roof pretending they still like each other.The Take: It says something when the “journalism celebration dinner” needs to feel like a security briefing. Between rising political hostility and public distrust of both government and media, even a black-tie roast night turns into a national stress test. Nobody trusts anybody anymore—and honestly, they’ve earned that.---DO WE EVEN CARE ANYMORE?The What: Americans have become strangely comfortable with dysfunction. High prices, political nonsense, endless scandals, crumbling infrastructure, and shrinking freedoms barely move the needle anymore. Instead of outrage, most people just shrug, scroll, and go back to work. Convenience has become stronger than conviction, and comfort often beats principle.The Take: It may not be apathy—it may be exhaustion. People are tired.
