The exploitation of Africa and the neocolonial policies of French imperialism

Eléonore Koffi | 1 August 2026 Why is it that Africa continues to suffer from such abject poverty when it is home to such enormous riches? France’s continuing prosperity and ability to maintain itself as a ‘leading’ country in the world is reliant on the relentless plunder of its former colonies – and it has set up a complex web of financial, political and military mechanisms to ensure the steady flow of loot from west and central African lands into Parisian coffers. The emergence of a sovereign Sahel has seriously undermined this arrangement, and France’s imperialist economy is suffering badly as a result. Meanwhile, the desperate attempts to recover this lost paradise are receiving considerable help from France’s imperialist allies. In March, 800 French military personnel arrived in the port of Mombasa aboard three warships. They have been gifted a permanent base there by the Nato-allied regime in Nairobi, meaning that Kenya now has three imperialist occupation forces on its territory. ------------------------------------------- Subscribe!
