At Zhongnanhai in Beijing, Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a private meeting and exchanged warm remarks, with Xi describing a new vision of a “constructive China-U.S. relationship of strategic stability”. Trump called the visit “very successful” and said the two sides had “signed a number of agreements”, although Chinese readouts gave little detail and some reported deals were still preliminary. The leaders also discussed Iran, saying it could never obtain a nuclear weapon and that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open. But no public joint plan was released, and the China–US readouts offered no detailed, binding commitments. Meanwhile, tensions over technology, security and Taiwan remain unresolved, with Xi warning that mishandling the Taiwan issue could lead to conflict.
