We are rereleasing our August 2020 book club episode as a companion to this week's Port Charles 411 all about Diane Miller. Since Carolyn Hennessey, who plays Diane, wrote this book, it felt like the perfect time to bring it back. The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli is a 2011 novel written by Hennessey as a tie-in to General Hospital, released on April 5, 2011 to coincide with the show's 48th anniversary. The format is chapter by chapter, each featuring a different Port Charles character, with Spinelli narrating his cases to Diane late at night. Shannon and Amanda break down their favorite chapters, including Edward searching for Lila's ghost on the family yacht, Tracy holding Luke captive only for Spinelli to discover Luke could have left the whole time, Alan haunting Monica and asking for a second chance, and Helena believing Alexis is actually her long dead sister Christina. They also get into the chapters that were harder to buy, including Jason and Spinelli going undercover in Sam's band, a very unexpected Carly storyline, and a Brenda ending that left some questions.
