When the Taliban swept back into Kabul in 2021, millions of Afghans suddenly faced an uncertain and dangerous future. Among them were two young sisters whose ambitions to study medicine and law were threatened. Their escape and the lives they built afterward are at the heart of the new book, "The Last Free Women."
