It looks like we’re going to be learning about temple work and its role in the redemption of the dead. I think it’s so beautiful that Heavenly Father prepared a way for all of those millions/billions of people who’ve never heard of Him or Jesus Christ to still have an opportunity to choose to make covenants with Him. Even if it’s after this life and well into the next one. I love how all of the little things were thought of and covered in the Plan of Redemption. Lots of people have talked about temple work. I’ve made our usual checklist that includes the talks, videos, and book chapters shown in this week’s “Come, Follow Me” lesson plan. You can check it out here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-december-1-7/ Thank you so much for doing this with me! It’s so cool to know that we’re all working through the same things every week! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants #RedemptionOfTheDead #TempleWork #GatheringIsrael
It’s a sad week. We’ll be reading about the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith and then about the beginning of the Saints’ trek west. What a hard time for them. We get to watch a part of President Holland’s talk about his testimony of the Book of Mormon. I remember when he gave that talk – it’s stuck with me ever since. How has your testimony changed this year? Do you feel closer to the people who came before us? Do you have stronger faith in the Book of Mormon and/or Joseph Smith? What’s changed for you as you’ve read, studied, and pondered this year’s “Come, Follow Me” lessons? There’s quite a bit this week. As you can probably imagine, a lot of people have born testimony of Joseph Smith’s call over the years. I’ve created two checklists to pick from. List A averages about 19-20 minutes every day, and list B averages about 28. You can find both of them here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-24-30/ Tell me in the comments how you’ve changed this year. I would love to hear about it! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants
It’s interesting to me that President Oaks became our new Prophet right before we got to these two sections of the Doctrine and Covenants. Section 133 is about preparing ourselves for the Second Coming (which we’ve heard a LOT about lately), but section 134 is about governments and how they’re supposed to serve the people. President Oaks was a justice of the Utah Supreme Court – he knows a bit about governments and how they’re supposed to work. I also find it interesting that he’s our prophet now when it seems like our government is a bit of a mess (it has been for a while – this isn’t a new thing). As we prepare for the second coming, what should our government look like? Is it supposed to be in chaos? Or should things be calm? It’s not a mistake. Our Heavenly Father has a plan and it’s in motion. And the best part? We get to CHOOSE which part we play in that plan. There isn’t a lot of stuff to review this week – our average study time is only about 15-16 minutes each day. You can find the complete checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-17-23/ I would love to hear from you. What do you think about what these two sections are teaching us? #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025 #SecondComing
How do you feel when you leave the temple? Do you feel the angels around you? Do you feel like you’re armed with the power of God? What does that feel like for you? I love going to the temple because when I’m there I feel like I’m home. We are so blessed to have so many around the world. There’s only one checklist this week, and we’re averaging about 20 minutes every day. Lots of good stuff specific to the Kirtland temple, but also quite a bit that’s applicable to us. There are at least 2 talks by President Nelson – the most applicable prophet to us. You can find the list here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-september-29-october-5/ Thanks for joining me! #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #ComeFollowMe2025
This week could be triggering for some. We’re digging into marriage and families and polygamy. Please remember that we teach the ideal so that when (if) we make it to the celestial kingdom, we won’t be surprised by how it’s organized. We also need to learn about the ideal because that’s what we should be striving for. That doesn’t mean we will all get it, and our Father in Heaven knows that. I’ve divided it up to an average of about a half-an-hour each day. A few days are longer and at least one of them is shorter. You can find the full checklist here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-10-16/ Thank you so much for coming back! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #Polygamy #DoctrineAndCovenants
There’s a lot of “information” about baptisms for the dead out there. Before you believe something you read online, please go to the source. Then, if you don’t quite understand what you’re reading, please ask someone you know who does. If you don’t feel comfortable asking someone you know, you can set up a time to meet with some missionaries who would be happy to answer your questions. You can click on this link to set up an appointment: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/welcome/meet-with-missionaries?lang=eng I’ve created two different plans for us this week: Plan A: Average of about 16 minutes every day.Plan B: Average of about 24 minutes every day. You can find both lists at https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-november-3-9/. I would love to hear about what you learn this week. Maybe it was even something you relearned. Let me know! Thanks for being here! #ScriptureStudy #ComeFollowMe2025 #DoctrineAndCovenants #BaptismsForTheDead
There’s a lot going on this week and quite a few things to study. Do the best you can, but don’t burn yourself out. There’s so much that I’ve created two different plans. Plan A will take, on average, about 24 minutes every day. The only section of the Doctrine & Covenants that we’re looking at this week is over 38 minutes by itself. Plan B will take about an hour and 12 minutes every day. I don’t think we’ve had one that heavy since … Easter? But it’s all good stuff. From the Nauvoo temple, to patriarchal blessings, and beginning the trek west, there’s so much to learn, review, or remember. Don’t let the length of things discourage you. Your Father in Heaven knows what you can do and He only expects you to try. You can find both plans here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-27-november-1/ Thanks for showing up! #ScriptureStudy #DoctrineAndCovenants #NauvooTemple #ComeFollowMe2025 #PatriarchalBlessings
When you’re feeling particularly down – left out, forgotten, depressed, stressed, or just wondering when things might get better – what do you do? Where do you go to find comfort or reassurance? D&C section 122 is a favorite of mine. When I’m feeling out of sorts or stuck (or any of those other things above) I like to go to this section for a reminder that everything is going to work out. All of the hard things we have to go through are for our good. They’ll help make us stronger, more compassionate, more patient, or just smarter. Often there is no other way to get the experience (and knowledge or wisdom) that we’ll get from the really hard things. As you read section 122 this time around, remember Joseph and what he was struggling with and then think about the times when you felt like you were in your own Liberty Jail. We’ve discovered our own Sacred Grove, but what about those Liberty Jails? There are two checklists this week because there is a lot to cover. You can find them both here: https://paisleyimperfect.com/make-a-plan-monday-october-20-26/ Keep your experiences sacred, but please make sure you’re sharing them when directed by the Holy Ghost. Your experiences are valuable to you and to others. We can learn so much from the things that we share, and the things that are shared with us. Thank you for being you. #DoctrineAndCovenants #Overcoming #ComeFollowMe2025 #PersonalGrowth #ScriptureStudy
