One MANS Opinion: Episode 320 – The History of Week 1

Week 1 of the 2026 NFL regular season is in the books, and Jeff Mans is here with a full recap and then some. He begins with some instant takeaways from all 32 NFL teams after their first game of the season and tackles some good, some bad, and some downright ugly performances. In order to put this first week into perspective, Jeff reviews who the top fantasy football scorers were over the last five seasons and where each of them wound up for the full season after the hot start. He then runs through the highest fantasy totals in week one among all players since 2000 and discusses how each fared in those seasons. As usual, Mans counts down his top 10 waiver wire pickups for this week and offers some advice on how to handle roster moves this early in the season. Jeff also addresses the FanDuel outage last Sunday morning and is confused about why he somehow became somebody who was being blamed for it. This leads to an open conversation about why the MansCave Discord room at Fantasy Guru went premium this season and the current climate between analyst and user. It’s a possible Super Bowl preview on Thursday Night Football this week too, and Mans gives out his best bet for the Lions at Bills in Buffalo’s brand-new stadium.
