When trainer Michael Simone dropped $8,000 to claim Micanopy a few months back, he was hoping for a solid enough horse who would fit in the Mid-Atlantic. But he never expected to land the horse who would give him his first stakes win -- and then take him to the Grade 1 Pennsylvania Derby.
