Madison's Mad Facts Originally released in July, 2025, as a bonus feature for "The Six Shooter." In the episode, Madison devours Ma Benson's cornbread. So for this Mad Facts, Madison interviews professional Southern Cook, Toni Johnson, to talk about the history of cornbread, it's unique traits in different parts of the country and even shares her personal recipe for how to make your own homemade cornbread! (and how it MAY just really be an aphrodisiac) Get the NEW Madison's Mad Facts by joining our Patreon (only $5 a month!) https://www.patreon.com/c/MadisonontheAir Find Toni on TikTok: Aunt_Toni_68 CREDITS: Written & Produced by Chrisi Talyn Saje Audio Engineering by Jeremy Saje Madison Standish was played by Chrisi Talyn Saje We go over the recipe, but the sound recording wasn't ideal, so here it is to follow along: 3/4 cu. cornmeal 1 cu. all purpose flour 1/3 cu. sugar (or just sprinkle) 3 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 cu. buttermilk (or 1 cu. whole milk + 1 tsp. white vinegar) 1 egg beaten 2 tbs. shortening or bacon fat Preheat over to 425 Put shortening/bacon fat in pan and let it preheat with the oven In mixing bowl, add dry ingredients mix/sift together.
