On September 23, a federal panel votes on the ABA's power over law schools. This week, the University of Austin and the Federalist Society announced a law program that will never seek ABA accreditation. The panel weighs the Education Department staff's recommendation to stop recognizing the ABA as a law school accreditor. Texas and Florida already cut the ABA out of their bar rules this year. Here's what actually changes for you, which law schools are exposed, what California's decades of non-ABA law schools show about bar passage, and the LSAT rule Texas kept when it dropped the ABA. On August 6th, 2026, the Justice Department told Duke Law that the median LSAT of the white and Asian applicants it rejected was higher than the median of the Black applicants it admitted. 34 days later it sent Berkeley Law a letter like it. In between, it opened a review of William and Mary's law school scholarships. I read the letters, the internal Duke emails they quote, and each school's answer, which I give you in full. Whoever wins, these letters change what admissions committees lean on this cycle, in a year with more high scorers applying than last year's. The Duke letter also contains a number law schools never publish, the median LSAT of applicants they rejected. Put it next to Duke's own 509 and it changes what "in range" means for your schools. September 2026 LSAT scores come out September 30th, and November registration closes October 1st. We went through about 1,000+ reports from test takers and checked what we could against LSAC. Plus, the Iran sanctions account locks, noise and interface problems at Prometric centers, the intermission rule that got one test canceled, and why double Reading Comp took over the week. Then the part that decides your cycle: the Score Preview deadline, what can hold up your score, what a cancel actually costs, and a simple keep-or-retake rule to set before your score posts. If you came looking for an October 2026 LSAT crystal ball, here's the problem. LSAC has spent 2026 making the test harder to predict. Reading Comp sections can now skip the comparative passage entirely, and almost everyone tests in person at Prometric after LSAC's fight with cheating. In this video I walk through the October LSAT predictions you can actually count on: the dates LSAC already put in writing and the new test interface, plus the one thing I'd bet happens to almost everyone on test day and how to train for it.
