The Foolishness of the Cross | 1 Corinthians 1:10-25

September 20th, 2026 Pastor Chad McDonald Imagine gathering the history faculty of any major state university and explaining to them that there is no way to understand history without a Bible. Beyond that, there is no way to understand the Bible until they understand that the cross is the pinnacle of God’s revelation of Himself to man. In other words, there is no way to truly understand history without understanding the cross of Christ. His death is watershed moment of all human history. They would probably laugh you out of the room and call you names. This was Paul’s message. He walks into Corinth, the center of philosophy and intellectualism, and does not try to impress his audience with his rhetoric, intellect, or philosophic notions. He simply preaches about the death of the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul does this for a clear and straightforward reason: so that their faith would not rest in the wisdom of men, but the power of God displayed in the death of Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:10-25 gives us a clear reminder of why we must never back away from preaching the cross of Christ. It may be foolishness to a lost and dying world but to those of us who are being saved, it is the power of God. I pray that you will join us this weekend for worship. Make plans today to attend.
