The party is abuzz with the news that Jane Fairfax received a surprise gift: a pianoforte, delivered to the Bates's home. Everyone is convinced that it's a gift from the Campbells, but Emma isn't so sure. She thinks the gift could be a sign of affection from Mr. Dixon, and Frank Churchill seems to agree with her. But that's not the only thing on Emma's mind. Her flirty banter with Frank is interrupted by Mrs. Weston's suggestion that none other than Mr. Knightley might be in love with Jane Fairfax -- could it be so?
