Gretta Ray on the heartbreak of severe illness

Hello! Today’s guest, Gretta Ray, has been writing music since she was 7 years old. After winning Triple J Unearthed High in Year 12 with her song ‘Drive’, Gretta’s music career was going strong. She moved overseas, wrote two studio albums, and performed with the likes of Gang of Youths, Maisie Peters, James Bay, Sam Fender, and Paul Kelly. All that changed when, two days after moving to London, Gretta was admitted to hospital with a heart infection, which put her life and career on pause. In this conversation, Gretta opens up about how her experience with severe illness changed her perspective on gratitude, friendship, and success, and how it informed her third studio album, Heartsong, which she co-wrote with Matt Corby.
